Default How many 6-speed cars are in the 9's

N/a or N20? Didnt think there was very many, but was just trying to get an idea. Hopefully I will be there when the track opens

Also how many of those 6-speed cars are 346-8+n20?

Thanks Todd

You should look at the ET database, but I would think that there are more T56 n/a cars in the 9s than auto cars.

What?!!!

LOL!

Are you kidding?

There are a LOT of 9 second NA automatic cars and only a couple of 9 second poweradder 6spd cars. There are a few low-mid 8 second power adder automatic equipped cars

OK, that tells me that racers are not taking advantage of the 6-speed's capabilities, which should allow you to keep the motor in the max power band longer. For example, my car will run 6.80s with a 5-speed and 7.20 with a T400.

Just because most guys aren't using a manual, doesn't mean they shouldn't be using a manual. Remember, these are street cars which naturally prefer autos.

There are more quicker T56 cars than 4L60e cars. Just because 4L60e trannys suck. Most of the faster cars are TH350/400

Another example: A/S record is 9.89, while the A/SA record is 10.03.

Only a small handful of T56 anything in the 9's. I can think of 8-10 guys offhand on here and on www.Corvetteforum.com.

bickel, arent you talking about clutchless transmissions and not the OEM hydraulic t56 trannys? how in the world will a t56 allow you to stay in your powerband longer than a properly stalled automatic? last i heard, shift extension wasnt very good in a t56.

and bickel has your car run 6.80s or 7.20s yet? because your sig says otherwise. or maybe you just like throwing numbers around.

Well, there's no doubt that a clutchless manual tranny (i,e, Liberty) will run a lot faster than an auto. I haven't studied the T56 ratios that closely to opine, but I instinctively believe that a "manual" LS1 should out perform an auto.

My car's performance is really not relevant to a LS1 discussion, except conceptually. It ran 6.80 with a 500 cid and Liberty 5-speed, and 7.35 with a glide last summer. Our computer predicted 7.20 last week in Phoenix but we didn't get down the track. I have no doubt it will run 7.10 to 7.20 in 2005, n/a, with a T400.

Sticks are ultulmatly faster, if you can get them down the track succesfully, but thats not my question. Im just wanting to know how many 6-speed ls1 cars are in the 9's. I have a jerrico in my 68 but its gearing is specific to that car. In a 6-speed and 2.6 or whatever first gear they its preety hard to get it preform like an auto, but i have done it

The ET database at this site is probably the best source for such info.

I can think of a few... Allan Futral, Cammin BeaSSt, romanss, taner (though he's a lowly LT1 car ), and I know there's a couple of 'vettes. NA? None that I can recall. Futral's real, real close NA. Otherwise, all of these are power adder cars.

I'm hopin' to join their ranks one of these days... Gonna try out the 150 pills this weekend...

hell yes it does

also i think there are 2 verified lt1 9 seconds 6 speeds, intimd8 and myself, and i think 5 or so ls1 cars, allan, mightymouse, roman, a couple more i am forgetting.

thanks Andrew! lowly....pffft

just wait till next year! a few small changes to the top end will hopefully get me moving a bit faster.

liberty and jerico = the ease of shifting an auto with the ability gearing it for keeping it in the power band. i believe they are a far cry from the OEM T56 trannies that came in our cars... just my .02

I own a T56 SS, w/150 NX wet shot, so I greatly prefer manual cars and wish you the best.
