Default stock a4 w/273 fbody

does anyone have any bone stock 1/4 mile times to contribute? a4 with 273 gears? i had mine at the track and ran a best of 13.84 @ 102.48 with a 2.01 60'. no tirespin, launched the car from 2k. only problem i had is, if i left it in D it would shift too soon, but it would go into 3rd. if i manually shifted, it would run .3 / 1mph faster, but wouldn't shift into 3rd, i bounced rev limiter in 2nd gear the last 250' of the track. would i have a respectable mph if i hadn't bounced RL, or is my car really just that slow?

I think the time is ok for a bone stock car but could probrably be alittle better. What do you mean by it was shifting early? What rpm was it shifting at?

I ran 13.7's with 8,000 miles on the clock. Once you start with the mods it will come around. A converter will do wonders for ya.....even with the "slow" gears.

yeah...i think not being able to shift out of 2nd at the rev limiter has a little to do with it, plus the car has 45k on it. however, it performed flawless all night, in terms of the motor. never got over 210 (according to the dummy temp gage) and pulled as smooth as silk. that car is VERY smooth, despite it's lack of performance. i made 5 back to back passes (off the return lane to the water box) and it ran the exact same, every time. i ordered gears, a shift kit, and a lid that will be here tomorrow. i hope to get the gears installed and get it back to the track before doing any other mods. my buddy has an 00 b4c with 133k on it, he ran 13.34 @ 104.58 with a 2.05 60'. our cars are as stock as stock can be, but he pulls on me instantly out of the hole, and doesn't quit. i'm sure his 323s, hardtop, and less weight contribute to that. my car shifted at 5,800 in D.

I ran 13.6@104 with 2.0 60ft BONE STOCK. I've got 3.23s though. I would worry about your time. I would manually shift though, since you can't outshift that computer. I'd put in in D and go.

My 2000 w/ 26K miles ran consistent 13.50's @ mid to high 103's, low 2.0 60's. I had one freak pass 13.467 @ 104.18 - 1.998 60'. I think 13.6 - 13.8 is pretty much avg. and acceptable for these cars.

when my friends car was stock (2001 a4 z28 with 273s) he ran a 14.0 @ 101.5 with a 2.1 60 ft and launching at 1500 rpm. I didnt think this was a bad time for a stock auto with 273s. He cut his muffler off and ran a 13.3 the next time at the track.

My car ran a 13.43 at 104 mph when it was stock. Only mods were a Magnaflow muffler, and a Whisper lid.
