Default Just missed 12's in the SS

Hi guys,

Went to the track on Saturday to see if I could get the SS into the 12's borrowing a friends set of nittos

On street tires I managed a 13.3@108mph and a 2.25 sixty. Car would hook decent in first but blow the tires away in second gear.

Threw on a set of nittos and ran

13.04 at 109.24mph with a 2.05 sixty

SO CLOSE!! Ran the car with everything in it and a full tank of gas to help traction.

Only mod is a throttle body bypass hehe

I need a shiftlight though. The tach lags terribly in this car and I hit the limiter on 1-2 and 2-3.

Cheers
Chris

Nice runs Chris! Bummer you couldn't ****** the 12s, as the mph is definately there for it. I'm sure you could hide a mini-shift light somewhere...

Nice times, I am having trouble hitting the limiter on the 1-2 shift as well (tach lag). Is this a common problem?

Yep, the stock gauge lags at WOT. Roughly a 300 to 500 rpm off.

Awesome mph. Shift light helps a lot. I got a Harlan's light a few months back and I don't know why I waited so long. You should see 12s with no problem with some traction and even better with a shift light.

So the shiftlight is a solution to this tach problem?

Yup shiftlight will run off the tach wire to the PCM and light up at the rpm you set it. No laggy rpm needle

Gears make it even worse, my tach is off by 500 rpm on the 1-2 shift.

Thanks guys

The car is mint, I was looking for a low mileage 02 and managed to find this one in Ontario. I have moved to the east coast of Canada and no longer live in Toronto though I am up there for work regularly

Get a harlan shiftlight and you have your 12 second pass.

I'm going for 12s with tuning only on my z28 once the fall weather hits.

It certainly is. I never look at my tach any more.
