Nice! I must say, I didn't expect that from Thompson. It's not a horrible track, but not nearly the best. Not many people go to that middle of nowhere zone. I blew an engine there in 1999. Moved and haven't raced there since. Hope to go back next season, if only to watch. They are done for this yr, right? Congrats!

I was at Norwalk friday a week ago and the track sucked. 1.34 short times and I had to loosen my limiters all the way before I could manage (3) 1.30 short times in a row. The et and mph were faster. ran a .64 and a couple of .62's at 139. The track was so bad a few of the guys gave up and put their cars on the trailer but I had all the adjustments to mess with and it paid off.
Thompson is open for another month. If you visit Thompson next year stop by and say hello.

The impressive part is paving the pit area. That whole thing made the track tough to deal with. At one point, all racers seemed like they came in from the street because they practically had to drive through dirt before coming close to the waterbox. I still don't like that lane entrance setup though. It needs more room. Not much they can do about it I guess, but it would be nice.
Norwalk ain't what it used to be. If they prep it right, it's no problem. Otherwise, it's not worth going. Problem is, they only prep correctly for the bigger races. Well, used to be like that. Donno now, since they've apparently gone NHRA. Of course, Norwalk has the ice cream! Thompson has those wonderfully dry burgers!
Anyway, I hope it works out that I move back. If so, see ya there.

I seem to remember it having a downhill runoff. Is that flat or uphill yet? If possible, I'll definitely be there again. I'm trying to secire a job in NE Ohio again and if that works out, that will be the nearest track.

Thompsons runoff is downhill abit but it's actually longer than Norwalks runoff. Thats what I hear anyway. Never measured it lol. I have no trouble stopping at Thompson and neither does the 6 second cars that run there periodically.
I really like backing into the waterbox but it is a little tight. I'm used to it. Doesn't bother me at all.
Good luck with the move. See you there.
