Default Why am I trapping so low? 111 MPH with 392/373 RWHP/RWTQ??

I went out for the first time this previous saturday to the track. I trapped 111 3 times, on ET Streets, I spun some off the line still, and the only !weight is the !jack/spare, it had 1/3 of a tank, maybe less. The dyno #'s were backed up by 3 pulls, then a seperate 3 on a different dyno. Any thoughts?

Sounds like your converter is slipping on the high end.

A friend of mine could only pull 12.6x With an H/C MS3 car with a fuddle stall. Turns out that his converter was slipping really bad in the higher RPM's. Car still felt good from a 25 punch and such but when he got over 90 and the RPM's were staying high (5K+) for longer periods of time it would slip.

could be converter...but also lack of gearing

but i had this problem, my car's front end sits low and the airdam is like a 2-3 inches off the ground. in the right lane at my track, i was lucky to trap 93. in the left, i went 99-100mph. the air dam was trippin the first beam early and missing the second one, thus slowin me down

does your car trap consistent in both lanes? is it sittin low?

yeah, something is not right, maybe converter? It's not gears. You should be trapping over 116.

It's the converter. I got the same one. It sucks up top, it's not slipping just inefficient.

I trap 115-116 on a 1.7 60" The better the 60 the lower the speed once you hit a certain point. I've seen guys with similar setups to me trap higher like 2+mph with the same sized stall just a different brand. My car makes about 420 right now locked.

Plus it depends on ambient temps, DA etc. On a hot day I'll trap a couple mph lower.

Stick a PT4000 in it and you'll gain a couple mph.

I was thinking my converter was slipping, but its not. When the car shifts from 2rd to 3rd it doesn't pull through the RPMs as fast. But when I run on the nitrous, it pulls through the RPMs fast the whole time.

I think my stock gears are not efficient enough with my horsepower upgrades. I will probably move to 390s or 410s.

I feel you guys for sure.....I made 413 locked and only have cut low 12's at about 112 and i have come to the conclusion that my fuddle is the problem. I guess i will for sure be pulling it as soon as money will allow me to get a new TCI max effort from TSP

Yank it and run low to middle 11s

I'm not making much more power than you, raceweight is 3440, and I trap 119-120 with a PT4000.
