Default How much mph from 1/8 to the 1/4

My last race I ran 10.10 @ 100 mph in the 1/8 and 13.62 @ 151mph in the 1/4.My car was loaded up for most of the 1/8 and it finally cleared up.Not an LSX motor but an LS1 car.I left the car running to long in the staging lanes. It actually came up on the rear tires out around the 600 ft mark almost like it does on the starting line.A bit of a surprise...

Usually only picks up about 33 mph from the 1/8 to the 1/4...

I wondered the same thing but if you look @ the 1/8 et then it makes sense. It was really loaded up on the 1st part of the run and hit hard when it cleaned out.

Adding 27% to your 1/8 mph should get you pretty close.

^^thats what i was saying..i don't think its possble..not just because you gained 50mph in the second 1/8th but because in order to get 151 mph in the quarter you would have to get enough traction to get you a faster time than that...the only way i see it possible is if you have like a funny car and idled it all the way down the track until about 500ft away from the end and then hit it hard to get up to 151mph..

151 MPH is ~ an 8.90's pass.

We should be asking for your help, not the other way around.

i think i have to say the inevitable and post a im not calling BS on the mph per say, but the fact that you run a 13.61 at 151. And i may venture to say if you do think it is possible to go 151 and 13.62 then your 151MPH is also BS

BTW post a slip and i'll shut up...o have been very wrong before

Magnet,
ET starts when the tree goes green not when the car leaves.

Look at the mph vs his stated track position. He was at 100 mph at the 1/8th. It took him 10.10 seconds to 'clean' the engine, get the car moving and trip the timers at the 1/8th. He went through the traps at 151... that's a 50+ gain in mph and 3.52 seconds in last 1/8 mile, so, 10.10 + 3.52 = 13.62.

It can happen with big power cars easy. If something happens at the beginning of a run that eats up a bunch of time then you lay into it. That is what you get. I have a 14.?? @ 149mph slip somewhere. It's just the opposite of a car that goes 8.0 @ 99mph.

Thanks yeah Canada.. .Ah no how far did you make it through school without learning your Abbreviation for states located in the country that you live...

And for the ones that know anything as stated about High Horsepower cars they do weird things sometimes and you will end up with crazy timeslips...

I don't think it's that weird.. Your car is accelerating alot faster down the back half from 100 than it would be from 120-130. Just like if you coasted to the 1/8th and floored it at 10mph you'd gain like 110mph+ on the last 1/8th.

Peace,
Josh

I'd like to see that time slip. I get a 8.13@86 in the 1/8 and 12.81@103.74 I still dont see how you can hit 100mph at the 1/8th in 10 seconds?

? for the guys ?ing me.Have you ever watched any sort of index racing something like an 8.90 class. They run a throttle stop (which is actually with electronics)They launch the car slow down for whatever delay they need and then run their ET @ say 8.90 @ 165 mph.(high mph) slow et for the mph because of the delay. That same car with no delay and making an all out pass would probably run 8.1- 8.3's because they would be under full power during the whole pass.Same thing for my car the 1st 1/8 mile I was down on power because I had left the car running to long @ idle and it slightly fowled the plugs but cleaned up down the track and really pulled hard for the rest of the pass.

Oh and no I do not live in Canada and yes this was mph not whatever Canada has...

100 is 100. I wish I could cut a 100mph 1/8th. I still dont understand how that is possible to go 1/8 of a mile at 100mph and only trap 10 seconds?
Do you have a slip, it might help me understand.

Actually I don't have any of my timeslips from that day.But my car usually runs 128-132 mph in the 1/8 so that right there should tell that I was down on power during this pass in the 1st 1/8.

Yeah but it is a Motec computer system and I must say that it is not very user friendly so I don't know how to use it yet.

Geez, i wish when my car was running good it gained 28-32mph in the 1/8. That would be nice.

Seriously though, having a 3.xxx 60, then getting on it the rest of the way down the 1/8, could make you trap 100mph and get you a 10.1.

I've never heard of that, because most people expecting to trap 130mph in the 1/8 generally have some damn good tires/drivers and don't have these problems. Only if something breaks, although they will coast and still run an 8.xxx.
