performance down...or summer heat?
performance down...or summer heat? My car used to trap in the 1/8 of a mile anywhere from high 85's to 87 MPH, but now I can barely break 84. I have headers, ory, slp catback, 4.10 gears, ls6 intake, ported throttle body and a lid... Almost all the bolt ons...
I was wondering how much the summer heat affects a car's performance, it feels a bit sluggish down low, but I've changed the o2 sensors, plugs, wires, fuel filter, and just did an over all tune up...
The car recently threw a p0171 code, which made me think that the tune might be a little off...

Summer heat is a killer. Mine runs 11.2-.3x's @ 122-123 in good air but in this weather it is down in the 11.5x's@ 120-121. I also lose about .05-.10 just in 60ft. So I'd say it's just the heat robbing some power from you
The last time I was at the track, I took a mini poll and asked several people how their performance compared to runs in cooler temps. Almost everyone I asked said their times were off by .3 to .5.

i was wondering the same thing.
i went to the track last night [1/8 mile] and it was hot and humid and i used to run around 8.6's@86 in the 1/8 and last night with the adition of some nittos and an ajustable ta i only ran an 8.7@83mph.
so i think the heat has a lot to do with it.
