Default Depressed 380 rwhp @13.4 in 1/4 mile

I was expecting at least a whole second better. Went to the drag strip to finally get some times. This is my first time at the track with a manuel 6speed car. Can someone tell me what I am doin wrong. My 60ft was between 2.2-2.4 horrible I know. I was launching at 2500 rpms, should I have launched around say 3500-4000 rpms? My cam is midrange to top end. Is this whats wrong that I did not launch it hard enough? I was using street tires, but I did not spin off the line. I got them hot enough though. This was in 60 degree weather. Need advice thanks.

Whereas when I had the auto and 3200 stall converter my best was a 12.9.

I see a very nice engine set-up, BUT I see no suspension or rear data. Still stock?

If so, right there is a problem. I would raise you launch rpm. A 2.2 60' as you stated does suck.

IMO: 1) get suspension work done; 2) go with a DR; 3) weight reduction?

Track conditions? 1st time at the track or a vet?

See a lot of variables.

I agree with david. What was your trap? Your 60's are pretty bad and I'm guessing your shifting could be better as well. What rpm are you shifting at? Any shift light?

You need to learn how to speed shift for one.
You also need a set of tires.... bad.
You said your cam was a top end cam... well you will need a set of gears to help you get there faster. I would go with 4.10's . good luck

If your puttin 380 to the tire than you shouldve smoked the street tires off the line, so that right there tells me you need to launch higher, also like they said, gear? mph trap? and the biggest thing is the driver for a m6 car? all that factors in, id say put some good tires in the back, launch higher, and practice runin her down the track

And what was your trap speed? DR's/suspension makes a night & day difference on your 60'.

MT Drag radials at about 18 psi would be a hell of a good start...

Yea but would the 10bolt hold up to that. I hear all kind of horror stories about it.

I know some guys who have gone 1.7 60' on a stock 10 bolt, not saying that they don't break. M6 cars are hard on them, I broke mine on a 1.7 in a auto car but if you could get your 60' down to atleat a 1.8 you should see huge gains over a 2.2-2.3 60'

also, what is your trap speed?

yeah we need to know your trap speed. I can cut a 2.2 0-60 foot and get a 13.1 at 110 in my car, and you have about 40 more horse than i do. And i dont knowhow your launching at 2.5k on street tires unless you have the stock gears still. With my 4.10s on street tires i have to launch around 2k and ride the clutch some to get traction.

Practice, practice, practice. Learning to drive a car with a good amount of power to it, ESPECIALLY on street tires is not as easy as some make it out to be. Grab yourself a pair of decent tires, Nitto drag radials would be perfect in your situation, and just get some seat time in. Also, what exactly happened at the launch? You said it didn't spin, so did it bog really bad? Did it just take off real doggishly? Post up your whole timeslip exactly as it appears so we can look at all the numbers. Good luck, have fun.

Haha I know what you mean. I've ran 13.7 @ 123 with a 2.6 60'. Talk about depressing. That was with about 500rwhp, 2.73 gears/a M6, and street tires...

My wife's 6 spd. 2002 Ram Air T/A with 1,300 miles on it stock with a lid and Nitto drag radials full weight ran 12.75 at 109.89 MPH with a 1.85 60 foot leaving at 2,800 RPM's at Steele Ala. in November 2002 you are in FL. so I know the elevation at your track is lower and you said it was 60 degrees. With that being said maybe you could say the drag radials account for .40 bringing the ET up to 13.15. Something is not correct here!

What RPM are you shifting at for all of you shifts? Does car have 3.42 gears in it? Are you letting of the gas when you shift the transmission?

stock 3.42 gears and I launched around 2500 rpms. I'm thinking I should launch around 3500 to 4000 rpms or higher. This is my first m6 car too at the track. I also have the stock shifter in place too. The clutch is strong and holding.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've got a car with about the same HP, no tires, no gears, no suspension. I had some miserable 60fts in the 2.4 range but only 103 trap.
