New best 8th mile on 408 NA with nitrous motor/converter.
Ran 7.4X at the track tonight.... lost 2mph from my previous best but went from a 7.67 (was running front runners at the time) down to the 7.4x with the smaller cam. My nitrous converter is too tight for motor.
60ft was 1.72 and the mph was 93 in the 8th with 28tall 17inch drag radials and 275/17's up front . It runs out of steam up top but has more down low on the motor. Feels faster on the street. This is with a non-SD tune.
I am thinking that with intake work I can gain another 20-40rwhp and when the new converter and kit goes on it should be a cake walk to go 5.9X or 6.2X in the 8th.
Damn Art Carr converter only hits 3300-3400 on motor! Tight like frog vagina.
I know a fella that took the same converter out and went to a 4200 Neil Chance Nitrous Converter and went from a 7.8 to a 7.2.... so running 6.8-6.9 on motor would be pretty cool!

I have to agree with this statement for sure!!!!
Heavy wheels don't help but dude 93 mph traps??? thats what cam only automatics run!
97 mph in a 3400lb car = exactly 400rwhp at the tire and it was a nitrous stall that would only foot brake 1600!
The tune could use a lot work,,,the car is struggling throughout the rpms...tight converter or not. Too bad you couldnt get lined up with the Yellow Bullet. We would have sucked the paint off that black turd!
That intake you can't do much with really. gasket match and blend since its already quite large in the plenum area. a 40rwhp gain....not gonna happen.

I believe my car is around 4050 or more with me in it.
as far as the times---> I ran the car 4 times and everytime it did 1.7X 60ft..... this is why the ET sucks! Either it is the converter or the weight. Cant be the motor, as a 346 that is cam only makes less RWTQ and RWHP. So..... it is the weight or converter. The tune is fine.
Come on "Howie" ..... you have driven the car. And you know how freaking easy a WOT tune is. One table and one A/F target.... it isnt as complicated as street or driveability tuning

That's a heavy ride at 4000lbs. I don't think I've even ever heard of anyone racing an f body at that weight.
If it is really that heavy then the et/mph isn't bad at all.
Just to give you some hope, my best N/A 1/8 with my old 408 nitrous motor
was 6.4@104.8
BUT-that was at 3400lbs, 4:10's and a Neal Chance 8" vert.

I don't think so. Though you do look heavy in your avatar, I doubt you weigh 400+ lbs. If you carry cinder blocks around in your car you should take them out at the track. Please explain why its so heavy.
What did yours make? Who did the tune? And what are your cam specs?

Maybe be one reason they call it a nitrous converter. Regardless on a 408, a 3300-3400 stall shouldn't be too bad. I mean people cut similar 60s with bolt on cars and similar size stalls.
Having personally seen the difference between a ported and nonported GMPP intake, I would say that you'll definitely make more power. That casting is rough as ****, but I'd bet it'll be more like 10rwhp max. A new stall may help you alot but don't get your hopes up.
Was this a combo similar to yours. If so, I hope you bought yours before you saw those results.

WizeAss. You build for motor only, nitrous, or FI. To try to compare what nitrous engine is get you nothing. Your converter for nitrous maybe fine, but is way off for engine only. You need to dedicate either motor only or nitrous. 4050lbs? Good god man. At least take the 3 drunk buddies out of the hatch. 5's in the 1/8 is a lot harder than you think. What safety gear do you have? 5's in the 1/8 is low 9's. Good luck

I know the car weighed in with me in it at 3850 before the iron block, 6pt, TH400, 28 tall tires, TT2 wheels, heavier driveshaft and the Moser 9 inch rear end.

Your car is probably closer to 4100lbs, that thing is way too heavy! The tight conv and massive weight has to be where the MPH is. Deffinately need some Bogart or Alumistar wheels and do front and rear bumper delete mod.

Hell my nitrous 408 runs like **** on the motor too.. Its got a nitrous grind cam, tight nitrous converter, 3.50 gear, 28" tire, and probably weighs around 3400-3500 with me in it.. With only 25* of timing and shifting around 6600 (low) it ran 7.00's @ 102mph and 10.90's @ 125 with a shitty 1.61 short time off the foot brake. No dyno time and a 45 minute street tune..
With a 100 shot it went 6.40's in the 1/8th and 10.00's in the 1/4 the first time to the track.. No dyno time, no nitrous tuning AT ALL.. 135mph trap and 1.43 short time spinning slightly.. Still short shifting and still at 25* of timing. Hell that was the first time I had even been to the 1/4 with the car and only the 3rd time in it period..
I feel this go around with a good solid tune it would go 6.70's off the trans brake with a N/A tune up. I also feel like with a good nitrous tune on the dyno that it will go 9.80s on the same 100 shot and I can live with that..
