Default Kirkey Pro Drag seats without a cage???

Can you install the Kirkey Pro Drag seats in a car without a cage? I plan on buying some Pro Drags with the floor brackets from Racecraft but I don't have a cage to mount the back of the seat to.

Having just installed mine last week I can say I absolutely would NOT use these seats without a cage. They are extremely flimsy.

I'm pretty sure NHRA requires them to be bolted to the cage. Either way, its stupid to put them in with no cage.

Thanks for the info guys. Does anyone else think running Kirkeys without a cage is ok? I have found a bunch of pics where it appears that the seat is not mounted to the cage in any way.

Along with my friends cobra with kirkys and no cage, another friend had kirkys in his dumdumdumdum with no roll bar, and it went 11.05 @ 125 and they never said anything about his seats or a roll bar.

.

No frigging way. You could go years with no issue, or 5 minutes & all hell breaks loose.
If an incident ever happens, you will probably get hurt much much worse than a real seat.
Good luck.

Yeah, those seats are aluminum, not very strong material. Wouldn't take **** to rip a bolt through one.

truth, because it has been done, doesn't make it right. I agree, it's stupid.

I do like your seats Tom. Where did you buy them and how much did they set you back? I'm looking to cut some weight and will not be doing a cage for quite a while.
