Baked, I find it hard to believe you have two fancy late model Fbodies and can't afford 100 dollar a piece greg welds.

I've done everything myself on the car so far. The rear end I'm having setup there at our chassis shop at work, cause I'm 19, never done one myself, and I don't trust my car to be my first try. Short of the trans & rear end, everything is done myself.

The car is looking great. Kinda reminds me of mine, but I'm sure your paint is a little better.

Do not be afraid to take risks and do the job yourself. Of course there are certain things you will have to outsource, but the end result will always be better when you do it yourself. Even if it's not "shop quality" you will definately appreciate it more.

Setting the rear end up is easier then you think. You just need to square it to the front wheels (easy to do with a tape measure with the adjustable rear control arms) and center the rear in the car (wasy, hang a string/weight off the 1/4's thru the center of the rim and measure, make sure it's the same on both sides)

Pinion angle, that's pretty easy too, just measure the angle of the pinion output and the angle of the output on the tranny, and make sure the rear end is pointing down a degree with the car on the ground at ride height (use the tranny as the referance to what should be considered zero, rear should be about negative 1 degree from there) and that's about it.

Make sure the control arms are level, or the back on teh rear is lower then the front, and start there.

Pretty easy stuff, if you were local I'd come over and help ya do it.

There are also jig points on the back of the rear subframe that make good measuring points for squaring the rearend.

Yes, those work pretty good too. But, I like to measure to the front tires, in case for some reason one ofthose points isn't dead perfect, or whatever.

I know that's how my car was done, and it goes strait as an arrow all day long, 140+ mph and it doesn't pull at all, leaves strait, etc.etc.

That's the way mine is. Dead straight. I don't really have a bunch of room to work with though. The only level ground I have is in my 1 car garage where I can barely scoot by the car, let alone take accurate measurements.

I think I will be taking mine to Madman's when I get back to make sure everything's good and pick his brain a little.

Madman is the **** when it comes to chassis setup, if there's anyone that I'd pay to set up a car, he's definately on the top of the list.

Power washer, after some simple green is your friend

My next project when all the fab work is gonna have the undercarriage painted with the body, and will be as clean underneath as it is on the top, I'll have that thing on a rotisserie when it gets painted, just so when I get under it to work on it, it's always clean.

Nothing worse then working on something that's got 30 lbs of sludge/crap built up on it. Of course, my car doesn't have 19 k on the body, so I guess it should be pretty clean under there. Not as good as I'd like it to be, but it's not bad

A set of turndowns off the headers will keep the underside a ton cleaner too.

JL, he means setting the ring and pinion up. Between Trigger and camaro396 they will have no problem setting the suspension up.
