Does that cross bar rotate on a inner bar or is it fixed in place? I'm just trying to figure out how it works.
The bar rotates on the outer ends that are welded inside the frame rails. This allows the rearend to move freely up and down and keeps the roll out of the car.

Thanks, Jon... I thought that was how it worked but I wanted to be sure. Pics are great, but they don't tell everything.

I have the Spohn bar and absolutely hate it. I warn everybody to not get it because of the shock clearance problem, ecsp. if you are going to run a double adjustable rear shock. We had to grind, make special brackets etc. to get it to work. Pain in the butt.

If you want a sway bar the UMI looks nice, BMR, or the midwest setup. For a track car, I will be going to the Wolfe here pretty soon. The spohn is just a headache.

I have a BMR and it's the ****...... The BMR Xtreme duty drag swaybar is way overkill but i guarantee you will NEVER hurt or bend it....

keeps my car nice and flat. Minor shock clearance issue depending on where you weld it up but it's so minute it clearances itself.

I used to have the wolfe on my car as well and I loved it.... Only thing is for a street car it hangs pretty low and my wife basically destroyed one side of it going over a speed bump..... Once it was broken it had to be cut off there and replaced at almost the same cost at a new BMR setup. so i went BMR and never looked back.

I need to get off my *** and get one for my MWC 9'.
I will more than likely be going with the MWC bar, light weight, strong, and many drive them on the street. Has nice ends, etc. Keeps the noise down.

i have been looking into the UMI performance drag sway bar. I also have adjustable shocks and this bar looks to have plenty of room around the shock compared to sphon.

Oh yea plenty of room, looks to fit great. Picture that bar but without the clearancing and how close it would be. Not a good design on Spohns part. They should redesign it.

I agree with you that Spohn should redesign there bar BUT,You are blaming the wrong people. Spohn designed that bar off a stock 10 bolt. The distance between the shock mounts on a 10 bolt are consistant. The aftermarket seems to have difficulty with this measurement. I've had 12 bolts that were 2"-3" tighter then stock.

You may be right, I never even thought about that. But, if they would have just made the bend in the beginning it would have solved the problem for all rearends and never been a problem in the first place, but such as life. Thats the aftermarket world, once you start putting different pieces from different manufactures on the car you have to customize some of the stuff to fit right.

Back in 2004 I spoke with one of the rear manufacturers about the shock mount distance being off and they didn't care. I spoke to Spohn about changing his bar design to compensate for the variances on shock mounts but it appears that never happened.

Well I wish they would have listened. I have tried to have them change it, but to no avail. Just have to work around it, if you have it, or buy another manufacture.

I now recommend the UMI or BMR, and have people stay away from the Spohn, for a multi purpose bar.

I'm familiar with the BMR as well as many others but the UMI bar I've never heard of until now. I'll have to check it out.

We're building our own chromolly anti-roll bar, but it's pretty much based after the Wolfe one. I sure gave my stock one a beating this season

I'll have to get some pics up this weekend or whenever we get it done.
