Default Accufab 4500 Carb Style TB or 115mm TB on front of intake??????

Just wondering which you guys though woiuld perform better! I am in the process of getting a new top half of my Beck intake made and need to decide which way I am going to go soon! Cary at Performance Induction has suggested sticking to the front style, just making more room for the TB tp breath straighter, but I have been seeing that people are getting nice results with the 4500 set-up. Does anyone know which has more effective area? Thanks in advance!

Pretty sure a 115mm single blade flows more CFM than a 4500 style.

Check out Wilson manifolds site they list the CFM and size.

I believe a 90mm FAST flows around 1,200 CFM. I know an Accufab 4500 flows 2,128 CFM.

I went with a Victor JR intake with a 4500 Dominator for my setup.

My 105mm flowed 1520 so it looks like the dominator (4500)will flow better.

the 4500 tb will work a whole lot better.I've seen as much as 50hp on the dyno over an elbow and 105mm tb,the egt's get alot closer as well.Cary's intake is a great piece, you're not going to find a better cast intake. When talking to John Marcella about this intake,he told me it's about as good as a sheetmetal .

Does the 4500 throttle body have as much as an advantage when used in a forced induction application with a carb style hat on it?

Anyone know what the 115mm TB flows. I am talking about the one being offered by that company out of florida? I called Accufab today and the tech support personel I talked to mentioned that both are pretty much the same. Once you get the flow you engine needs from the TB then everything after that won't hurt power, but can affect Throttle responce. Anyone do a good back to back on the 4500 style TB vs a 115mm TB?

How much work is it to make the 4500 Dominator work with the stock cable or is it even possible?

Also, has anyone tried or thouht of putting a TB (like a 115mm) on top of the intake, kind of like the dominator would sit?

As far as Ive seen the stock cable wont work. And ATV has put one on top like a dominator.

I hope that the 4500 flows better than my 105 b/c i'm in the middle of a trade for one. I've received the 4500 and am going to have to run the adapter and a 2" spacer in order to clear my n2o setup. One of the nice things is the progressive linkage with the 4500, should make driveability better, hopefully pick up some extra power and better dispersion of air in the intake.

Another side note, my Accufab 105mm requires a ford style tps and iac mount so you would need to wire that in if it's like mine (not too hard) and then get an IAC adapter if you want to run one (I don't)

Another thing to keep in mind is a velocity stack. I have seen gains of up to 30 hp on the dyno by adding a VS to a front mount TB? Is there something like this for the dominator. Anyone have anymore back to backs?

I wouldn't worry about what flows the most. If it means anything to anyone, I'm using a 90mm...but I built a street car so throttle response was a concern.

RPMxdisplacement/3456=maxVE
...and if I remember right, you go by 85% of this.
My setup required ~820cfm and my 90mm flows 1200cfm...

It's been a while but I got this info from Accufab when I was asking the same questions, I believe.

105 is plenty of surface area for 99.9999% of engines is more of a question of progessive linkage capability and TB placement. If your going to do a top mount, use a 4 barrel it bolts right on and done. Lokar cable makes it easy, I modify the stock cable so it snaps right into stock pedal for easy in/out trying different manifold setups

You can make plenty of power with a front mount or top mount, and there are ways to get the distribution right on both. in the end its a matter of manifold and packaging choice.

90-95mm single blade area is enough to feed near 700 hp and 9.50s NA, same engine on gas will pull less cfm from what Ive seen

IAT anywhere in the path of incoming air will do, its prety even as fast as air is moving.

What IAC are you using? Many of them are built into the TB housing with an adapter block to Ford style IAC, so not alot of choices there.

hmmmmmmmm......... you need a cage christian be4 you go ne faster... LOL

I run the 4150 style and it flows way better than a throttle body would up front.....you do have direct port which helps but i can't think the distribution is all that great....

I have been using the stock IAC, but this was on my old set-up. I plan on spinning the motor to about 8000 RPM or so, it hasn't seen anything past 7000 yet. The cage is being done as we speak. Outlaw, what linkage system are you using as far as gas pedal to TB?
