I was just wondering what size stall you guys would recommend. Last summer I finally got rid of the 6-speed and put in a th400. It has a 3600 stall in it right now and even comming out of the hole on the transbrake and 150shot, I only ran a 10.7X with a 1.6X 60ft. I actually had a little bit better times driving a stick, so I'm hoping a different converter can fix that. I want to be able to pull some 1.4X 60ft times. I only spray at the track which is maybe twice a year, so I want a stall that can be motor friendly too since that is how I usually race on the streets cause of traction issues. Would like a ~4500 stall be too much?

No, it hooked pretty good. At least that's what I remember. I need to go back and check my friends videotape. It was my first and only time out to the track after the th400, so there's a lot of other little variables that come into play which I'm working on as well before I go back. I'm sure the converter is the biggest factor though. It was a used one I bought mostly just for mock up purposes to get the car running.

I think i'm in the same boat as you. I currently have a stall around the 3000 mark and was also thinking about going to 4000 - 4200 because of the size of cam in the car. On the brake on motor it takes a bit for me to get in my powerband off the line with the 3000. I haven't tried footbraking the car yet at the track with the converter I have in the car now tho. I'm also running about the same combo as you cam, 243 heads, ls6 intake and 12bolt with a harris nitrous kit. Its kinda hard trying to find similar cars with about the same setup and higher stall converters.

I went with FTI and they're gonna make about a 4600 stall for me. I'm gonna try to get off of work to make it to the TX2K9 race event next month and see what this baby can do.

You are going to be looking at a serious compromise if you really want a good stall for N/A and a good stall for nitrous. What was your mph when you ran the 10.7 with the auto and spray? What was the mph when you said you had the stick and you beat your auto's times? Your 60-foot time was really bad for a 10.7 ET, when my car ran 11.7's it would out 60-foot that. I'm guessing that you blew through the stall while on the nitrous, and it was simply slipping. You probably didn't notice it because you were probably running on adrenaline and weren't really focused on your guages.

My mph with the 6 speed was 129 w/ 1.6x 60ft. Launched a little harder the next pass and cut a 1.53 60ft, but in the same pass my clutch slipped in 3rd and I ended up running the same time...Switched to the the auto right after that and went back to 1.6x 60fts and the mph went down to 128.
