i use to have the little race battery, but after i got an ewp the battery couldnt hold a charge the remote mounted pump was too much on the battery, so i had to get a normal size battery

but the advantage with an odessey is that when it DOES die, you just charge it back up, and its one 130 or so for a 680? the thing will last for 8+ years. i used to sell them all the time at the parts store i worked at. they're perfect for a drag car that sits for long periods, as long as the batt is left unplugged it'll hold a charge for over a year.
what brand is the other one?
none the less, it does sound like a great deal.

I have had my etx14 in the z for over 6 months so thats all the winter, but I live in texas.thank you dlove after reading your thread I decided to get one,if it failed I could return it back to oreillys free of charged, win win situation for me.

You'll probably save more than that. My 2 Z's stock batteries were 35 and 37 lbs apiece. Optimas are generally heavier than the stock batteries.

i just called my buddy at the local advance and told him i was looking for a battery for my car and told i was looking for an etx16 and he started laughing and said it was for a seadoo so those batteries are aparently designed for a jetski. may be in a different spot than the car batteries are. you'll probably need to bring in a core also (regular ol' battery may work)

I really think that the PC680 is a better deal.

i'm thinking about some kind of lightweight battery but still undecided. was thinking of getting one and putting it in only when i race my car . also thought about buying some lightweight carpet for race day only. both are a very good return for no more than you hace to spend.
anybody use that odyssey 680 or any of the braille batteries in cooler weather ?

Ive drianed my 680 15-20 times over NY winter storing the car, dynoing the car, leaving a door open..... Put the jumper box on it and it holds the re charge fine, had it for 3 years now.
When its under 30 out over 10* and the cars been sitting more then a week over winter I can normally start it with the big cam now. I get in close the door fast, prime the FP. key off, wait 10-20 secs with nothing on. Clutch in and crank it, I only have about 2-4 secs of cranking power, but unless its realy cold it starts.

I went to advanced today and gave him the part # he said nope theres nothing in the computer....im like ok, and take a walk around. Sure enough it was sitting right on the shelf for $70. My question is how do you mount your side post connectors to it?

Hey guys I picked up a ETX16L, its 18lbs lighter than the stock Bosch battery and it whips the motor over just fine. It only took 10 minutes to swap out, I used the hardware that came with it and used the stock connectors with a washer. Beats the 4+hrs it took to take out the passanger side air bag for 14lbs...

I'm not sure on the model #. i'd have to go look in jegs but it is the 15lbs version. It starts my car fine as long as it is fully charged. And it has 2ga wire all the way to the starter.

Awesome trick. I wish I had known about this back when I bought a new battery. Maybe I'll put mine in the Firebird when we get the LT1 swapped in and cop me one of those bad boys. Been on a weight reduction kick lately and that's a good chunk.
Appreciate the heads up.
