Not sure on that. think its still there.

want to get a better front street wheel. thinking about betting a 17, to clear over the lower ball joint, and tierod. but not sure how wide. Anyone run like a 17x5 or 17x7? what size tire can you fit on something like that?

Not sure, I'll see how it is.

Anyone running 17 front? 17x5 17x6 ??? I would like do not run some super skinny tire on the front for street driving.
Racestar make a 17x7 with 4inch BS I'm not sure if that would clear.
Weld RTS makes a lot of sizes 17's x 4.7 ,5.0, 5.2, 5.5 ect.

camera got stolen, so no pics. been driving the car alot, think put just under 1K street miles so far. Drives really good, no surging 1500rpm is 6th is smooth just like the streetsweeper. Tried to get it a surge going slower, at about 1K rpms in 6th. No surging or bucking like trex dose, but its really bad on the clutch, I never do that.

Really like the clutch, only made some passes on the 16" and DRs. Its up about 2mph. The clutch grabs a lot harder, It would spin the tires every pass. And I was tring to do the "let off the clutch" with my foot holding it It was would spin the tires on mild setups that would bog the streetsweeper cam and the ram. The Ram I could tune a little between dumping the clutch, and letting off on the DR and wouldn't blow the tires off. But I have a little more gear now, the DR are older too.
Did a few pulls on the dyno over the weekend with a new cam, making 44xwhp, no loose in tq. I have the shift light at 6400 still, gona find the sheet to raise it. And it will go faster still, peak power is about 6600, falls a little that comes back, took it 7150 and not falling, and up 25whp then any other cam. I'll post the sheet soon. Gota do some work on the fast, you can see it in HPT

Ordered some Manton pushords today form Shane at thunder, so see how thous do next week on the dyno back to back

oh front tires running those Nexen 165/80/15. I got them direct from the shop selling them on Ebay. There $140 shipped for the pair, they are 25.5' tall at 38psi, but compress to about 25' on the car. And weight a few pounds lighter then the older Kumo powerstars. Heavier then DS2 but they will last for a while on the street. They ride OK, handle bad. At 1st I hated them but now Im used to them. The front end moves around at speed, and follows the road and grooves more. The car parked you can push on the top of the wheel and the car will sway back and forth a few inchs. I'm gona try to get a better form wheel still.

Nexen 165/80/15 on greg welds 15x3.5 27.95 Each 55.8#'s for the pair.
Moroso 26 DS2 on greg wekds 15x3.5 22.5 Each 45.0#s for the pair

Moroso ds2 - 26 X 4.5 X 15 - 13 lbs each.
kumho 165 80's - 18 lbs each

I'm going to run a 17x7 BS Street Lite on the front of mine...and more than likely the 15x10 F-body specific rear Street Lite. I'm kinda unsure about how this will look, but it should get the functionality of a wider front - tired of how true skinnys handle on the street, but keep the weight down some. The 17x7 weighs 17 lbs, and the 215/50/17 General tire that I'm gonna run weighs 20 lbs according to tirerack. Considering that most front 15x3.5/4"s weigh 10-14lbs, and streetable front runners weigh around 20 lbs, I'll deal with a few lbs to keep good street manners. I also hate changing tires for the track and want something I can run around on pretty much anywhere (minus heavy rain/snow)

I know there is a pic of it in this thread, but do you have a pic of the reinforcement that you made for your front bumper, after you took out the front support?

Its all done and painted with black wrinkle looks really good. The alum weight very little. I bet theirs more weight in the steel hardware that holds it on. lol

That sounds good. So the reinforcement that you made, kinda helps hold up the bumper, so in time, it doesn't sag? Can you email those to me or do you have a link?

You ain't 3100 unless you added some ballast bar. You were lighter than that 2 years ago, lol.

Not yet, but I have most of the day tomorrow to figure things out. New tie rods to quell the front end shaking at 80mph+, new plugs and wires, which should hopefully get it on 8 cylinders.

I've always liked this thread and LS1 car, but I think I'll have to root for the LT1. Represent us well Joelster. If for ANY reason you don't win....we can always blame a "bad" opti.
I just realized that having an opti-spark is the racing equivilent of "the sun was in my eyes!" LOL

Where are you running tomorrow John? We will be testing at E town to see if the new clutch works.
