Yea, I was shooting for 6.2x-6.3x the first time out so I'm very happy. DA was 2400' and that was on some 2 year old hoosier DOT QTPs. I'm just going over everything making sure I didnt forget to tighten something and hit a 1/4 mile track this weekend if the weather is decent.

Congrats on the first outing Kevin, she looks to have the 6.50 index down (if you guys run that at all, as we do a lot of it down south). Keep us posted, good luck hitting the 1/4 this weekend.

They run 5.70, 6.0, 6.50 and 7.0 around here. I could lighten it up a little and put some slicks on it and run 6.0 but thats mostly light chassis/backhalf cars so its a tough class. Couple tracks have 6.50 with a 10.5x28 max and a .500 tree and those are more street carish.

I just built this car more for just fooling around at some events and some limited street driving, if I wanted to index race and win around here I'd buy a 1900lb chassis car

Not a bad start that's for sure. Hell you're not leaning on it at all and if I know you, there's a good bit left by tweaking the chassis

Nice looking car, and it's already running some good #'s to boot. It's a win-win in my book!

Its the same basic combo I had in the other car so I could easily get it in the 5s/low 9s changing a couple things around. Its running through a single 3" muffler with a Y-pipe and I'm running a whopping 14 degrees of timing so it has a lot more left. In an all new car I didnt want get too crazy the first time out..

Understandable. Hell ya probably can put another 4 degrees to it with pump gas and have no problems.

The exhaust I'm sure isn't helping. Might be able to cheat with that and put a couple cutout's at the headers though.

Excellent results regardless, car is show quality as always and in the performance department it's a winner as well.

I purposely made the exhaust restrictive, as well as the 60lb injectors so I dont go too far with this one. I really just want it to stay in the 9.80 or so range, its kind of hard because I know it will do a lot better but I proved my point with the other car..

Makes sense. Set a limit, and stick to it.

Wish I had done that LOL, I'd have alot more $ in my pocket still.

We'll see how long I stick to the plan, this thing still has the door bars, bumper supports, heavy carpeting, all the stock wiring, power steering/brakes etc. Although for the most part its a dedicated track car the main reason I'm keeping it like this is if I get bored with taking it to the track I can pull out the roll bar, put the stock seats back in and have a really nice street car. Once you cross into that 10pt cage/chute, cuttng the wiring up and gutting thing its hard to go back.

Very true.

You're hardcore enough to deal with the rollbar and seats though, a rim/tire swap and you're golden

Maybe not even that...

I priced that car a little cheap and it was sold in an hour, in retrospect I probably should have kept it but my plan was to build something non-LS powered at the time.

I'll bring this back up one last time, hit a 1/4 mile track for the first time last weekend and ran a 9.55 @ 141 best with a 1.33 60 foot. DA was around 1500 feet, thats about as far as I'm going to take this car with a 6pt roll bar. A blower pulley change, bigger injectors and some weight removal and a more aggressive tune would put in the low 9s but I'll leave it for now and just have some fun with it for a while, it runs and drives so nice I dont want to screw it up

Some video, first pass I left a plug wire loose..

Nice launch pic from there as well..

I used to live in Chicago and race at Byron all the time, had to run up there anyhow last weekend so I figured I'd take the car along since the weather looked nice..
