Challenged by a sprayed 351 mustang, what chances do I have? See sig for mod list in my C5. I don't know much about the mustang except that it's a late 80s model, got a 351 built for nitrous, has a 2 speed tranny (power glide?) & has some mods done to the diff.
I know that it depends on how big is the nitrous shot, but does anyone have any idea how fast (on average) it could be? ofcourse, we'll be both on slicks.

If the ford is done right you would take a serious beat down.The Glide is a give away,it probably a 9 second car.The ones I see around here that are put together right run from the high 8s to the low 10s.Stangs are very light and have a much better suspension for drag racing than we do.The IFS on a C-5 is a major handicap for drag racing.

Re: Challenged by a sprayed 351 mustang, what chances do I have? A co-workers stang has a 13-1 351, c-4 and 2800lb raceweight and runs high 8's on a 300 shot. Pretty streetable also with the 3500 converter and 3.55 gears. It could be a slaughter if its right.

Re: Challenged by a sprayed 351 mustang, what chances do I have? IF its a car that is driven often don't plan on it running faster than a 10.20. I have seen 351 stroker motors go in the low 9's(never seen one run 8's) and the 9 second cars weren't what I would call streetable.
Just don't let him leave on ya on the street and invest in a nitrous system!!! You might be better to do it on the street and tell him to give you the tear out since you have a street car.

Re: Challenged by a sprayed 351 mustang, what chances do I have? Have a friend with a 351 block(now 408cid) with alot of spray. Actually he was in a Ford Mag not to long ago. His car went 9.0s at 153mph. He can and has drove it on the street.

Have a friend with a 351w in a 79 Stang. Carbed, but has ran 9.40's. He can drive it down the street just fine too.

Re: Challenged by a sprayed 351 mustang, what chances do I have? I have a friend with a stroked out 351ci and on 110 he's going 10.doh's @135 on motor so I think that a 9.40 on a 150 shot is possible.
