That looks awesome. I'd like to put together a short style spindle / coilover setup for the front of my 95.

That's a very good question. I have some big caster wheels I'm going to put on the jig. Once I have competed all I can do here in my garage I'm going to load up the car as it sits on the jig into my gooseneck trailer and haul it to a friends shop that has a lift. We well then lift the body off the cage and complete all the welds at the top that I couldn't get to with the body on it. From there I will take the cage to a paint shop and have it painted the color of the car. Well to more specific, I will have the interior portions of the cage painted the body color and the rear suspension portions painted a dark charcoal grey.

Thx,
Dave

damnit that some nice suspsension under the front of the car.... those spindles take you about 20 hours to build? custom stuff like that takes forever.... did you decide not to use a strut because of class rules?

Guys, again thanks for the kind words and all the words of encouragement. It goes a long way and I really do appreciate it...

Yea, had to keep the front suspension with the stock attachment points per class rules. This is what I came up with to do away with the stock C5 hubs along with the inter-graded ABS tone rings and allow me to run spindle mount front wheels. No one offers stuff like this for the C5/C6 as I know of. How many hours? Wow I don't know how to answer that one as I don't really keep track of the time spent on each portion of the build. Maybe I should have. But again this is my first attempt at this kinda project. I will tell you this, it doesn't take long to know what you would do if you were to do this again. I have learned a lot during this whole ordeal. Once I'm done with this car I'm going to finish my Pro-street 69 Camaro "600cid bbc sporting a 10/71 roots blower, EFI running on E85"

and then begin building my other 69 camaro that'll be of the pro-touring flavor. I will use the front suspension & the rear IRS, the big vette brakes along with the factory ABS system out of this car in my protouring car. I will also transplant the C5 electronic A/C system along with most of the electronics removed from this vette. I believe strongly in nothing goes to waste. I cannot wait to get starting on that car.

you would first need to decide how fast you wan the car to go and then put the according cage in it.... a 25.5 and faster cages get expensive fast which lets you go 7.50 in the 1/4

Go to the SFI website and order the books. That's the best way to know. Basically they require certain bars in certain locations and certain thicknesses

Havent forgotten about you Dave. I havent had time to do anything aside from work since we spoke last. Call me the beginning of next week and we can try and make something happen. If nothing else you can bring the wheels here.
