Default welding in a cage?

When you weld in a roll bar over the rear above the axle do you remove the fuel tank. this is on a steel tank.

I would drop it. It only takes 30 seconds to do. We dropped the tank when doing Trigger's bar.

To do a cage on a unibody chassis correctly, you should weld the bar to a plate on the floor, and thru-bolt the plate to another plate on the bottom side of the floor...so yeah, the tank needs to come out to do that.

It no joke took us maybe a minute...but then again this car doesn't have a catback, heat sheilds, or any other bullshit on it. Just un bolt the two rear strap bolts..You don't have to completely take it out. Just unbolt the straps and let it drop down as far as it will go.
