We just got back from a three day labor day race and it was a pretty long weekend. Anyway, Friday night was a free race and I went out third round getting beat by .002.

I have been pretty disappointed in how the car has been running this summer to be honest (7.10-7.26) all motor. Because the car USED to run 6.95-7.05 all motor.

Well, I guess this has just been a really shitty summer to say the least around here. Because this weekend the car went right back to running low 6.90's on motor. I was having to spray a 25-35 shot to run in the 7.0 class and that has been really annoying.

To say the least the converter I have IS NOT what my car needs for all motor. I'm getting 1.57 60fts 4.48 330's and it's running 6.95-7.02.

The shift extensions are crazy and it doesn't flash hardly at all. I'm shifting at 6800-7000 and the converter is falling all the way back to 5400.

Now back to my weekend

Saturday I ran anywhere from 6.94 in the cool night to a 7.02 in the heat of the day. I got down to 7 cars having a slow .558 light. I run super pro so yes a .558 is pretty bad

Sunday I also got down to seven cars again except this time I got beat by a black Vega GT. The car was running a 7.02 all day and then all the sudden picked up to a 6.99. I threw a 6.98 on the car since the weather was getting cooler. Well I don't know if that was a fluke deal or what, but when I made my final pass the car went right back to a 7.02 despite the fact that the weather was better and the car didn't spin or anything.

I had fun anyway and it was a good time! Also the car is running 6.90's all motor again

I think the car can run in the 6.60 range all motor with a better converter and about a low 1.4 or very high 1.3 60' in the nice cooler weather.

Here's some pictures from this past weekend though.

Congrats on the weekend Brother.

Thanks coach! Always have fun on them big two and three day races . You guys should come up for the big Thanksgiving race it's always a big turnout and with the way things are now I don't think they will have a minimum car count. It will likely be a guaranteed $5k for Super Pro, I'm not sure for No/E.

I think I got my converter sold, now I can see what this thing will do with a good one .

Hope the new converter does what you want. I may start racing again next spring but that all depends on the baby.

My old converter was a Neal Chance 9.5". Now I have a 8" BTE which worked A LOT better this weekend.

This weekend the car ended up with a 1.47 60'ft compared to my old 1.58.

This past weekend

The Density Altitude: 2463 feet
Relative Density: 92.99 %

Ran a 6.928 on the brakes (Trying to run 7.0 Index) showed to run a 6.895

Normally with the old Neal Chance converter and same DA the car would only run a 7.07 at best with a 1.58 60ft.

Definitely gained quite a bit from changing converters, I still think some 6.70's are possible all motor during the fall

Well the 6.70's came a little sooner than expected! Got a new PB this past weekend all motor. 370CI, 3,400lbs with driver, 93 pump gas, 4,000 off the transbrake.

Right here Kyle! I'm still excited about that single digit pass

Same setup with a 150 shot. Still thinking 9.60-9.70s are possible, may be even this coming Friday night.

Thanks guys! I've really enjoyed getting this setup into the single digits. Setup has really came a long way since it was first put together.

I went to the track this past weekend hoping to get into the 9's a little deeper, but the track just wouldn't hold it due to a bunch of oil downs.

I got it to run a 10.78 @ 123MPH all motor and 9.92 @ 134. At least I can back up my 9 second run though

Hopefully we're going to a bigger and better setup this winter. If not everything will just be freshened up. Since I got my single digits I was shooting for, we may stick to an all 1/8th mile setup for next year since thats what most tracks around here are anyway.

Welp, I've got my long block sold this winter. Going to either a 408-427CI's for next year and setting the car up for 1/8th only.

Here's some updated pictures. Don't think I've ever put up of the bulkhead and fuel cell. I got bored after "treating" the tires. 50/50 mix of Mineral Spirits and Diesel additive plus a scraper does wonders .

Also lowered the car about 2-2.5"s all the way around so that it doesn't look like a four wheel drive. Just pretend the dirtiness isn't there lol

Car's progressing nicely. If you're looking to go 408 over the winter, I have one already built/ready to go, listed in teh for sale section. If it's more then you want to run, I have a buyer for the top end if you just want the shortblock too... I can work that either way.

Lemme know.

Wow....that motor sounds like a mean SOB. Really what we're leaning towards on the compression. Also thinking about going to Alcohol.

I'll know more around late November to late December if you still have that 408.

This thing would be nasty with alcohol

Pro systems n/a alcohol 4150 on a GM intake, or even better a dominator on cary's intake...

Be a bad bitch for sure, and would make PLENTY of power

It's sitting here, wrapped up in a bag ready to go

I can supply you with a pan too, if you need one. I have a miloden I bought for it along with their windage tray and the pickup for their pan, I'll let it go for what I bought it for. it's a 67camaro/chevelle pan, but if you have an aftermarket K member it should fit fine.

Good chance I'll have it, it's out there for sale, and I've had a couple bites but all street car guys that are crying about the compression... you want a race motor, and believe me it's that for sure. Probably be perfect for what you want to do.... just have to plan on the car heading for the bumper with the power this will make LOL. And, you'll be able to spin this to 8500 all day long NO problem with the valvetrain this has on it.
