Default What Drag Radials!

Hi, i never had a set of drag radials for my car since i owned it, my car is a 6spd with full exhaust no tune, im thinking about buying some nitto's or possibly BFG's but i need a tire that will last long and not blow up my rear end. I went to the 1/4 and i ran a 13.3@107.7MPH with a 2.1 60ft my friend's Z28 stock went 13.1@108MPH so idk, i just changed my spark plugs they where original @ 75k that could be why the slow time or could be mostly my driving.

Any reccomendations would be very helpfull! Thanks!

At your powerlevel and situation I would say Nitto, but with a disclaimer. M/T are better and you should get a line lock. Ultimately your rear can blow on the street with a good one 1-2 powershift so its on borrowed time.

Everyone that has an Automatic tells me to put slicks on... i keep telling them no because it will blow up my rearend.... so i guess i can use some nittos for awhile, but the only reason i dont really want BFG's is because my Cam only friend went threw 2 sets in a summer and we store our cars in the winter so......

Nittos do well with an auto, and the friend going through too must run alot of passes or drive a ton of miles as only M/T's are the ones noted to wear quicker. I had 12k on my original batch of M/T DR and 50 passes and it was worn enough to justify a new set.

Blowing up the rear is a fact of life for the 10 bolt. If your cutting 1.6x or less 60 foot, you should be fine, BUT you are putting wear on that rear, and it will start with atypical gear whine when its about done.

actually the i bet you go longer on the slick than the drag radial .....the slick will absorb the shock a hell of a lot better than the nitto ! nittos are death for 6spds! m/t dr's are a little better being the sidewall flexes .....

People have luck with the MT's, but chances are your rear will blow. Don't put any drag radials on the car if you don't have the money for a new 12bolt of 9" when it does blow.

unfortunately its really luck of the draw. people brake the rears with stock power on stock tires occasionally. others run 10's on stock rears. Just slip the clutch some and you "should" be ok. eventually it will brake tho, so just be ready

Not trying to be a dick, but I recommend you do a search in this section of the forum. Everyday there is another post about "What tires should I get for my 6 speed car?"
