Default Rearview/sideview mirror options - Bracket racing

The car has finally started it's build for a life as a bracket race car. I have plenty of experience bracket racing, but am finding it difficult to use the mirrors to watch my competitors for a few reasons:

The convertible top exacerbates the problem as I have a huge blind spot and a small rear window.

Do you guys swap out the passenger mirrors for a regular mirror (not distorted)? Any convertible guys do anything creative to see out the passenger side better??

I'm just looking for ideas before I start with some trial and error...

x2 If you are running a car such as a dragster that will be passing you at atleast 30 mph or more at the stripe you need to drill the tree and make your car run the number. I never use my mirrors, but thats just me. You may want to look more into making your car more consistent or improving on the tree...

I'm good with consistency and killer on the tree, I've been doing this for over 16 years (started in Jr. Dragsters when I was 8 years old). There are certain races that I want to play with the dial depending on the car I'm running, and I need the extra vision to adjust accordingly.

It's the simple fact that I want to have the ability to see better. Every advantage, albeit small, is an advantage nonetheless.

EDIT: trans changed to TH400

That being said I am swapping out the passenger mirror for one that isn't distorted, for starters.

I don't even have any mirrors on my Firebird. I go by what I see out of my window betwean the mph and finish line. I can usually run within .01 of my dial. I always try to dial "honest". That way, I pretty much know where I am at when I get to the stripe. Against cars that are 15+ mph faster it is hard to judge them. I think that it is better to force a breakout (If you are truly "killer" on the tree).

I understand what you guys are saying, but I don't always dial "honest." Everyone has their own style, and I was hoping people would chime in with options for more visibility, not coaching lessons on my driving style.

Cool. It's a fun event and Tony needs all the support that he can get.

Good Luck,

How about a nascar style "No Blind Spot" mirror.

Exactly. Try having the blind spots of a convertible!

I don't think they'd let me race like this:

Keep an eye out for me next year
