LPE 2step, The model with 2stages, hooked to the clutch switch.
Set at 3k, I hear thats what the warrenty max rpm is on a truetrac

So what "broke" on them. Can I see damage with the diff in the rearend still?

I cracked the case on my Tru Crap, twisted the driver's side splines, and twisted the driver's side wheel studs on my second trip to the track with boltons and a cam. I now have a spool with 4.30s, 35 spline axles, and 1/2" ARP wheel studs.

They are JUNK, I tell people all the time. Sounds like another victim of these POS diff's I'll say it 1 more time, putting a tru-crap in a 12 bolt/9 inch/S60 is pretty much putting you right back to 10 bolt strength, I'm starting to think they may actually be worse then a 10 bolt. Don't do it.
Was on my Honeymoon, I am that other car and that Tru trac acts like a spool in most situations. I am just going to drive until it shatters. But either way, they are un-rebuildable junk!

You can't get them in 35 spline in a 9". Maybe 33 splines. Not sure

I've got a Detroit locker, rock solid. It does clunk from time to time in tight turns, but 6000 rpm launches are no problem.

This would save some weight too. When I put the 4:30s in from my 3:73s. The truetrac with the ring gear bolted on was 57#s. I see spools for the s60 listed at 13.2#s, So it could maybe save 30-40#s?

And I could go to more gear like it wants. 4:88s for right now going mid 120s. But Im porting some 243s, and 4:56s would be needed.

wait I have my s60 373 gears here at the shop. I'll go weight the ring gear with bolts......

.....edit, just the 3:73 ring gear is 9.8# with bolts its 11.0#

So the truetrac is 46#
going to a strange "lightweight" pro race spool (13.2#) would save 32.8 #s

Ok so guys running a spool what kind do you have. I take it this strange Pro Race "lightweight" spool is steel. The alum ones I dont think would hold up, lol

Spool it. I've driven with one on the street, it's not that bad, tires chirp a little around corners, other then that it's fine. Granted, if you're ripping around curvy roads and whatnot you probably won't like it, but that's about the only time I think you'd really notice.

FWIW I have a moser lightweight steel 33 spline spool in my 12 bolt, no problems.

Ya, steel spool for sure...

The 4:30s whine a bit, I'm not that hard on them right But this setwill always be that loud now right? If I check them out and move them a little setting up the spool can any change they could get quiter??? There a strange set, and the only 4:30 set I found for the 3:54-4.10 carrier size. The other in 4:30-5:88 or somthing for the s60. The gear lash they listed at .008-.010 street (not 100% sure). But the Track spec was .006-.007 I was right in the middle, and used the pinion shim strange used on there setup of the 3:73s. The pattern marked were they wanted, witch was a little on the outside of the heel? IIRC..
If I'm just putting a spool in with the same gers I shouldn't have to mess with the pinion gear at all. The spool is cheap, and I just need carrier bearing for it, it dosn't use shims. everything else is fine.
But I would like to get it quite agian, so maybe change the ratio? hum...

I looking at the gear/mph chart on http://www.f-body.org/gears/
My 28/10.5/15S ETdrags Do think I put them in has a 29.0 tire, I think thats close to what there going in my car. II know on my 28.0 DR that don't grow I can tell its more RPM. What dose it look like for your trap/rpm for you guys on that tire. 29.5 even 30.0? you do have to clearence about 1inch around

RPM-MPH........../ 29.0 /4:30s
6000 120
6100 122
6200 124
6300 126
6400 128
6500 130
6600 132
6700 134
6800 136
6900 138
7000 140

RPM-MPH / 29.0/ 4.56
6000 114
6100 115
6200 117
6300 119
6400 121
6500 123
6600 125
6700 127
6800 129
6900 131
7000 132

Figure the tire at abotu 29 inches, I measured mine when new, they were about 28.2 (circumferance divided by 3.14159) and I have about 7/8 of an inch all the way around the tires, and at 142+ they don't rub at all, so that's probably about an inch of growth at the most. When I measured them, I had 20 lbs of air ni them as well, air them down and they look smaller, but expand more (example, during the burnout the back of the car actually rises a little)

You're right at the point that a 4.56 will be perfect, as I don't think you'll see more then 132 mph unless you're making 480 to 500 rwhp and have a potato chip race weight.
