the lower the more oxygen in the air..BUT...it usually comes at a price...cold tracks which won't hook

Like said, lower, the better but there comes a price for that.

The issue I see is the days the DA could be considered the "best" are during off season months, during winter months for an example. Most people are not running cars so typical track rentals may have 10-30 cars at best and that track cannot get enough heat into them to support the bigger HP cars. There is seemingly a fine line to "best".

I say if your making 350-500 rwhp, it does not matter how cold it is, as long as the track is prepped and the car is set up correctly, your fine. Cam only cars typically fall into this or H/C set ups. Stockish cubes. Take something that makes 650 or more and they are gambling.

Properly utilizing the power you make is honestly one of the hardest things about racing. Some people over compensate, other do more with less.

As mentioned, the lower the DA the better. Luckily we run Saturday daytime TNT here in Gainesville during the cooler months so I've seen -1200 DA with sun on the track (temps about 60-70 on the track and 40-50 in the air). Sure makes the cars nasty!!

Fireball said its best. With a low DA such as -1500 you sacrifice track temperature. If you can get the car to hook you will see impressive times.

Can you have a really good DA in warmer weather? Or do cold and DA go hand in hand?
Everyone knows cool air is better, but does that directly effect the DA aka dense air?

temperature is not everything. usually when it is colder there is less humidity and more oxygen. we have had days here where it is 65 degrees with a DA of 2500ft. other days it has been 75 with a DA of 4000ft. when we were in kansas a couple weekends ago it was low 50's with a DA of 252ft (there elevation is 1000ft below us). on NA cars you will not run you best time in the summer, its always in the fall or spring.
