Default What 60s with 15x8 wheel

I got 26x10.5x15 ET streets on Jegs stars but I am thinking I need more tire.
Would it be worth it to go to a 15x10 with 26x11.5 ET street or should I do suspension(which is stock right now)?

Best pass is:
1.62 - 60
11.37 @ 120 - 1/4

This was on a 125 hit and it chattered the tires pretty good out of the whole. I want to be able to hook with a 150 off the line to run some high 10s.

Its not a 10.5 contact patch on the track tho. I'll be looking to go high 1.4s short times.

The tires got a season on them and quite a few street miles. They have always been hit or miss even when they were new and the car only had bolt ons.

Saturday tnt. Sunlight and not many street cars made the track pretty decent. Did you ever spray yours?

the only problem i've had with that tire on a full weight car is the side walls don't seem to last very long, they were shot after a season. still plenty of tread and they'd get sticky, but even up to 18lbs of air i was almost taking the rims to the track in an 87 camaro with a 305 and 100 shot

Im going to do front shocks and springs. Thats a lot cheaper than picking up a set of billet specialties.

Hows the actual contact patch look? What suspension do you have? Looking at my friends 275 m/t radials and my 26/10.5 et streets on the same wheel there is a very noticable difference in what touches the ground.

There is no more than a 3/8" less contact patch than I would have with a 10" wheel. I have had guys measure it for me just because I was curious. The 10" tread with is only 1.5" wider than my wheel, while this isn't optimal at 14psi on my tire pressure gauge it just slightly wrinkles the sidewalls when I launch. While it looks my slicks appear to not have that great of a contact patch while sitting at the staging lanes, I had mom take her Cannon Rebel and set her camera to take multiple frames a second of my tires at launch. The far edges of the slick were touching the pavement just like they should. A wider rim should make the contact patch slightly wider, but I don't see how it could have made any noticeable difference for me this season.

My suspension is far from great but here it is...
Strange SA Struts (0-2 clicks from full loose depending on track)
Hypercoil 275lbs springs with the struts
Factory T/A
Non-adj LCA's
Non-adj Panhard Rod
LCA relocation brackets (1 in lower than factory ie. Middle hole)
CE 3 way shocks in the back (50/50 setting)

3600 Fuddle th350 converter
4.10 gear in my 7.5" 10 bolt
~3250lbs with me in it race weight

The car had 1.45's on motor in it easily with some fine tuning, but I only got to take the car out a few times this year and when I did I was bracket racing so I couldn't adjust on the car after the first pass.

Last year my car was practically identical to the times you posted up. This is the only changes I made to go from 1.60-64's to 1.47-50's.
-Replaced my 26x10.5 MT slick with a 28x10 Hoosier slick
-Replaced my 3.42 gear with a 4.10 gear
-Replaced my Bilstein shocks with CE 3-way drag shocks
-Replaced my Bilstein struts and factory spring with Strange SA drag shocks and a 275lbs spring
-Replaced my 165 metric front tire with a 25x4 Moroso Dragway Special (Which I think had the least amount of imapct on my 60's improving)

I had your exact same problem with practically an identical suspension setup, and above is exactly how I fixed it. I think my experience with correcting the same problems you are having will give you your best results. Many told me to try this or try that, but in the end, just swapping out what I did above made the difference I needed and was looking for.

Edit: I should include that I run your standard sidewall Hoosier slicks and I do not run tubes.

Slicks would be nice but I want to try and keep a dot tire on. How much do you think the 4.10s helped?

Auto or 6-speed? That should be more than enough tire on a decent track, I'd do some suspension work.

Front coilovers and LCA's should keep you planted, then a tq. arm and drag bar when you get the chance.

I got non adj. lca waiting to go on. I want to pick up a pair of strange single adjustables for the front, would I still want to use stock springs?
