Low-to-Floor Seats????
Hey fellas,
over the winter i will most likely be adding to my cage so i can run my 8's with more than just a 6pt, LOL.... anywho, i'm looking for suggestions for seats that a low to the floor. my car is a street car, and i dont want my head anywhere near the cage.
right now i have Corbeau TRS's which are about 1" higher than the stock camaro seats. NO GOOD. im looking for something LOWER than the STOCK seats. i would think something like a kirkey would be my best bet, but im not interested in those. i know some people think they are comfortable for street driving, but that's not my style. i want something stylish, subtle, safe, LOW, and comfortable. im thinking something like a sparco sprint 5:
...but i dont even know how low these are...
i don't want cheap ****, and prefer quality name brand stuff. BUT, i'm aiming below $1000 with whatever bracketry is needed, but i have harnesses.
basically im looking for suggestions within these guidelines:
-race seat, most likely fixed
-harness slots (4-5)
-sfi if need be
-black
-<$1000
-comfortable
-not fugly
-LOW LOW LOW LOW to the ground
thanks for all the help for the record, im 6', 190lbs

Get a set of Kirkey 41700, 17 inch side pro street seat, mount it on the back 2 studs the stock seats sit on, right on the floor, grind the studs a little so they don't dig into your bum... and just attach the back of the seat to the rollbar.
Good to go.
I'm 6'3 275 and that's almost enough to get my head away from the rollbar enough so I feel pretty safe. It would be nice to be farther away.... but it's certainly 100 times better then the stock seats were.
Good to go.

for the $ they want for a spearco plus what they weigh compared to stock I wouldn't bother, it's not worth it.
Do a kirkey, or leave the stock seats in the car. The aftermarket ones that aren't fabbed from alum, are not light enough to be worth the trouble.
Kirkey, for the cost and weight savings, absolutely worth it.

although it's a plus, weight is NOT the issue. the issue is gaining head clearance from the halo that's going to be added as it's a street driven car, and i prefer to keep my head intact if i were to be in an accident

That I fully understand (being 6'3 I know exactly where you are coming from)
The kirkey will sit right down on the studs too and that will give you max headroom... the spearco seat, is still going to have to mount on a set of rails or whatever, and is going to be higher, probably no lower then a stock seat, at least not by a substantial amount.
