Those look like they would work the one for 2000 hp, but make sure it's got a steel drum, or an alum one with a steel sleeve in it, because the alum drums dont' last forever, they're a wear item, and should be redone every X amount of passes.
Any reason you want to stay with a 3 speed and not go strait to a 2 speed? At high 7 second speed, I think you may be better off with the 2 speed.... or if you're going to stay with a 3 speed, the 2.10 first gear amy be a good idea to help keep the thing from standing up so easily.

TH-210 transmision and be done with it.
Google it. For 7's it will not be cheap but make sure a 2 speed would not be better...... all depends on your combo.
Nothing against the sponsors here but I don't know of any that consistantly build trannies for that power..... some shops that is their cream and butter. When a company says they will get back to you with a quote that tend's to mean it is not something they do very much.... if they do it a lot they tend to be able to give you an accurate cost off the top of their head. Some on here build some high power stall's but I would still not go threw them..... you stall alone will prob be about $2,100 and the tranny if you want it to last I am sure will be at least 5k to start. A two speed should be a little cheaper but after the cost of a case it will not be all that much cheaper if any.

2 speed with the sfi case will be a ton easier to get in and out of the car too then a TH400 with a shield on it, that I have first and exp with, and I'm 100% on that.
I can't see a 2 speed not working on a big F2 procharged setup like the thread starter has listed in his sig ( I assume that's what this is for)
ATI superglide 2 or 3 should be all you need, and I'd contact them about the converter too.

Id just make sure that the 2 speed is better then the 400 for my combo before I bought it.... just me..... Id rather fight to get a tranny out that works then be able to drop one with ease that does not work as well.... He also has not said if he is going to run 1/8th or 1/4... that tends to come in to play also.........
Can't go wrong with ATI either......... shame on your for mentioning a non sponsor haha.

Depends on the combo, th400 will hold up but can you get the power down without breaking those tires loose. Glide would be easier to hook up.
If he can mention ATI, I can mention "Rossler".

well one of the reason is that am not in USA and no body can help me with the glide here also we have two tracks 1/8 and 1/4 and I think with the
3 speed I can go to both tracks with less things to change

We plan on seeing how the TH400 works with our new race engine and 106mm combo in 2010. Fireball and Phil are running the glide, I am sticking with the 400. It will be interesting to see the difference on similar combos in the Virginia Speed race stable.

400 or glide will be perfect. I would opt for the 400 if it were primarily a 1/4 mile car depending on how much power you have. I would say 95% of the cars in Texas that are quicker than 6.00(1/8th mile) that arent Pro Mods or Outlaw 10.5 cars are all glides.

hooking up is not really an issue on his car , the suspension is pretty dialed in .
my question is : wouldn't launching a th400 in second be just like launching a powerglide?
this way he can have it set up for both 1/4 and 1/8 mile races?

I don't know if there's really an option for leaving in 2nd vs 1st, yes it would be very similar, glide with a 1.69 or 1.8 first gear vs a th400 with a 1.48 2nd gear.
I have read somewhere about a turbo car that could leave in 1st or 2nd depending on track conditions... I don't know how they were doing that though, must be some kind of custom valve body or something. Transbrake generally only works in 1st. Plus, I'm not sure how hard that is on tranny parts.

You talk to Rossler and Neal chance for your converter and it'll be spot on.

What I like about Rossler is when you call asking questions you talk to Carl... the owner... ATI you don't.
If you want to get some good info on ATI call ATI and also ask to get David Hance's e-mail so you can talk to him about the product... he broke the radial record (6's) and has an ATI stall and tranny... keep in mind he is sponsored by ATI but also has nothing bad to say about Rossler.
For a stall if you go Rossler I am sure he will tell you to go Neil Chance for the stall because they know either others product every well...... For ATI I would most likley stick with them for the same reason. Hance also has nothing bad to say about Chance....... Do some google searches on the above companies.

Lonnie Dyers knows his stuff. The only thing I dont like about spragless is driving thru 2nd gear clutches to go into 3rd gear without a flare.
A properly built th400 with a 36 element sprag and an aluminum drum can definitely be reliable to 1500-1600 hp.
FYI Ive seen plenty of promods running th400s since glides cant get a low (numerically) enough first gear (well technically 2nd).
