Sleeves are way better that the factory cylinders but most BBC need to be sleeved anyway since the supply of decent unbored blocks is drying up and you have to make the ones you have work.

Definatley I just fired my car up last sat with the new motor. I just went with a stock bore this time, too expensive for me to bore one .070. I'm not looking to set any records just yet lol. I'm hoping its a little faster than the last one. I really want to get into Indy this year. Its prolly gonna take .75 under, so we'll see.

Yes Al does sleeve his. Alot of the 396 guys use a 454 block and sleeve it back. The main reason for the thicker liners is the cylinder wall will stay straighter and hold better ring seal.

Tim,
I had that killer engine for you. On a good day in B/S it would only have three digits on the time slip. It ran low teens in an auto during eliminations.
Definitly agree on the stiffer cylinder walls. Stock blocks were never designed to handle that pressure even at a factory bore.

We though the samething, and built a stock bore motor. It makes about 515hp or so and could probaly run .75 under if the air was right. It was our mule motor to see where we were to run B in a camaro and now I have a Pete Z firebird to run A went 35 under in Noble, Ok at 4100 ft. with that motor. We sleeved a 6.0L truck block to get the .070 for our new motor. The CPs showed up Friday, your giving up a ton without the bore wish I would have done it from the get go.

Yeh I know there is power there ,but diddn't have the jack to do it this time maybe next time always gives me something to look forward to lol. Plus there couldn't be much more in a shortblock with the bore maybe 20hp tops I'm guessing.

I don't have that kind of money either. I am just fortunate to be associated with the people I race with.
You were not slow. A few things here and a few things there and you will be flying.Call me if I can help.
Nothing better than doing it yourself. I feel the same way.
I have broken more parts that you can imagine but I learned from that. A friend told me one time falure is learning.... learning what not to do.

I have an 02 Formula. Been thinking about Stock Eliminator for along time. It currently Has a Full UMI SUspension and Very Nice 9". I know it all has to go and stock suspension components have to go back in to fit under Stock Elim rules. The 9" for a 12 Bolts is an easy swap. I have a complete stock front suspesion. I need to dig up my NHRA rule book.
