It depends on the car, burnout size, roads you drive on (if they are used for street and strip, locker or posi chunk, etc). I've heard of people getting 6-7,000 miles from a set. I get about 100 laps and 1,000 miles from a set of 275/60/15 ET Street radials, but my Nova has a spool so that helps to decrease tire life with corners

The MT guys told me the tread wear is better on the 17 inch rim tires than on the racing 15 inch stuff because of a slightly harder compound. I have not tested this, but I bought a set for my station wagon that I hope to test a bunch in the future! My guess is the 17's will have a bit less hook, but should last longer for sure. On the 295-15 tires I was getting 5000 miles out of a set before the tread was almost completly gone. My 17's have a few more rain type grooves than the 15's also, may help in the rain a bit.

I have the same tire as Dragman, but I have not used them yet. I have them on a station wagon that is sprung more for conering ability, so I don't expect very good 60's. The engine is LS with twins, so I need some roll traction from them.

I ran 30 on the street and 22-25 on the track. I did get pulled over for spinning the tires in your fair state on I75. The nice police officer said going 122mph while spinning the tires is dangerous, and gave me a "felony reckless driving" award for my trouble. This type of thing did cause the tires to "wear out"!
