Just wondering how loud it really is in the car after pulling all the carpet out? After seeing the listed lbs lost just from carpet and sound deadening from other members...im interested

Dependss if your running a cut-out or thru the catback. Its loud inside the car with a cut-out but nothing u shouldnt be bale to deal with.

True forgot to mention that is does get realy hot in the summer. I wouldnt recommend this for a DD car. But is worth it for the weight saving , all depends on what you use the car for more DD or strip use

I DDed my old car that way for a year with the padding ripped off the back and the carpet back in the car. It didnt feel like it changed anything as far as sound goes and I had true duals.

was it actualy worth it to take out the padding and throw the carpet back in? Carpet cant be that heavy compaired to that padding. Does that stuff actually go all through the car...front and all that?

It's definitely louder. But what makes it more uncomfortable than the noise is the heat transmitted through the floor.

It almost filled up a garbage bag and I would say 20ish pounds. Cars just look nasty w/o carpet

it seemed my car got alot louder inside... waiting on cage install to put ozite in it, i too hate the look of a carpetless interior, unless you're running a tube chassis with tin floors

the noise isnt the problem, its the temperature. In the summer if you are in traffic the floor heats up so much the car turns into an oven and going barefoot or in sandals is out of the question because you will literally burn your feet if they touch the metal. The highway is fine in the summer with the windows down but touching the floor with your feet or resting your hand on the floor to the right of the driveshaft tunnel isnt happening. Winter in traffic you are comfortable because of the heat through the floors, but on the highway you will freeze your *** off because of the air seeping through the firewall and any other cracks or holes in the back of the car.

just run lightweight carpet, you won't notice a difference sound wise. without any carpet its gonna be LOUD.

I posted a thread documenting my install of lightweight carpet without massbacking. There is a small amount of jute padding underneath in the deeper areas of the floorpan.

It is noticeably louder. With the cutout open it's almost like I'm outside the car. I did shed a good amount of weight though with that and removal of rear seats, brackets, hardware, belts, winders, and some other insulation.

You will notice it, but it's not unbearable.

I started looking at the stock carpet today. That spongy backing is really on there pretty good. It also feels like just the carpet withouth the backing is kinda heavy by itself. If I do this I think im better off with a aftermarket carpet.
hmmm

Yes. I wont ever do it again. I am putting a car together now and its going to have lightweight insulation and carpet. Leave that hardcore **** to someone that doesnt care about getting out of the car with ringing ears. Its annoying.
