went to the track today and the tech told me my Shoei motorcycle helmet is no good anymore. He said I need something with the snell sticker inside.

i don't want to spend another 300 just for a helmet for the track, since I have this Shoei already, but if I need to get a snell, is there a source for an open face, simple helmet for around $100?

got a M rated snell helmet which is fine for the slower cars IIRC, was $150 at a motorcycle shop for a full face one. There's a bunch on ebay, just buy the name brands and you should be fine as well.

Don't forget open face are illegal now for some cars.

Plus I would not buy a helmet based on what's cheap, I would rather have a quality used piece, then a junk new one.

Get a nice motocross helmet. They will have the latest safety ratings, they will have excellent ventilation, and they will look great. Here are a few cheaper ones that will keep you passing tech for years to come:

One industries "Kombat" is Snell 2005 and DOT approved. This outlet store has a few of the slower selling color combinations for $99.

Safety stuff is not something to skimp on....especially your head. It's only Simpson helmets for me as long as I've been racing, my last 2 have been Simpson Voyagers (~$400) and I absolutely love them.

Spend the money, don't be stupid.

I got my HJC which is Snell M2010 rated for $130. The medium fits me perfectly. It is my Autox helmet.
