Default Who is interested in a stick shift drag race?

We are in the process of organizing a nationwide drag race for all stick shift organizations out there and anyone interested. We are looking somewhere in the midwest like indy and it will be sometime in the spring. Anyone interested, let me know.

There will be at least two classes, and possibly a quick 8 or 16 class for stick shifters as well. It will be mostly all bracket racing at this point and will follow rules from both the UMTR guys as well as Ozark Mountain Super Shifters.

IMO the class would be cool as there would certainly be some competition. Ultimately the class needs to define which transmissions are ok, and if aftermarkets are allowed, or heavily modified stock style trans.

After reading the rules in the link, you almost think there needs to be a class that has stock type transmissions and then everything else such as aftermarket, faceplated, clutches transmissions. Heads up would be more fun as trying to be consistant would be a bitch. Or at least a average of 3-5 passes and index.

I would be interested for sure as well as a couple other guys here at the shop. Index or class style heads-up racing would be great. But the sandbagging and brake riding at the end of the track that happens in bracket/index racing is BS.

It is just so hard to make a class that is competitive for the regular racer and keep it from being over run by big money cars.

Indexing should solve the majority of that.

I hate the idea of building a car to run a specific number but unfortunitly thats about the only way to appeal to a wide number of cars. Would other cars be allowed? Imports, other non-LS powered cars? I have a lot of friends here in central Indiana with other brands that love stick shift drag racing too and would be on board for this event as well.

we dont see too much Sandbagging, brake dragging you guys are talking about.

I ran UMTR street stick, and ended up winning the points this year, I had a blast.

so lets not hate so much on our style of racing...

Not hatein. I just watch bracket racing and get sick and tired of seeing the same BS every week, people fendering eachother and brake draggin.

I just want some competitive stick shift drag racing.

Hmm... Looks like any other bracket race to me. Standing on the brakes and fendering the other car.....
