Rubber Mat behind dash?

Is it ok to remove this rubber mat from behind the dash? I assume it is there for noise and heat but will it cause any problems if I remove it?

I removed all of mine, no problems

Kinda heavy too

I have mine out. Its a lot easier to take it out if you just cut it where it goes around the bracketry that the steering column bolts to. That way you still get it all out but you dont have to fight getting all that stuff out and then putting it back. This is unless you want to save it for reuse later.

Yea I was planning on cutting it. Looks like it would be a huge pain to try to pull out as one piece. Thanks for the info guys.

actually meant to help w heat also. not much of a difference removed to hurt anything though. ya cutting it makes it easier to pull and like said, alot easier to run wires thru the firewall or get to stuff

the only thing youll notice is on long drives your feet will be a little toastier. Pull it out and forget about it. I pulled mine out in about 23094234230942 pieces cut if just cut and pull and once it started giving me problems id cut it some more lol

Most of us that removed it already had loud cars, so saving some weight was the goal. If you're worried about increased engine noise, maybe it would be best to just leave it in the car.

My car already is LOUD!!! But I have yet to remove the carpet, padding, and other sound stuff.
