Kirkey Seats
#25
Who told you they aren't sturdy? I run them and had them installed about 3 years ago. I ran them without a cage for 2 years, and they were fine. No flex or anything. I used the bottom-half of the stock seat mount and mounted the seats (with Kirkey brackets) to that. Zero issues so far. I'm 6'2" and can put my helmet on inside the car with no problem.

How so? The only weakness I see with a car that has Kirkeys and no cage, would be for that car to be rear-ended HARD. Then I could see it MAYBE folding back since it would only be bolted to the floor. A front end collision would be no different than if a stock seat were in place, the seatbelt does the stopping. I've never seen a broken Kirkey seat. Not saying that it hasn't happened, I just have never seen one.

stock is stock, race is race
the stock seatbelt in a kirkey, is not going to hold your tight IN the seat like the stock belt dose for the stock seat for a front end hit, like the way carlos has it.
The lap belt is gona be loose and not fitting you TIGHT in seat right. With it going over the leg bolster. In a hit your hips are going to move up out the the seat with tons of force, untill your hips hit the stock belt. Thats could break your hip and legs. You need to stay tight in the seat. And the stock belt it will probally bend the kirkey leg bolsters into your body, hurting you more. Or making you trapped into the bent seat hurting you more. Running the lap belt thu the holes in the seat would be better but still not right.
take 175# in that seat, and have it go 60-0 instantly, that seat is gona bend to ****. Even 130 on a race track, I don't know the specs but you can get 5-8 Gs I've been is some bad head ons, like motor nocked out the the car, trans broke off. and thats just a one time hit.
If you have to drive the car after the seat bends on the 1st impact, your fucked, just along for the ride. Or the car starts to roll, Your going to get fawked up in the seat with a stock belt, not fixed to a seat bar.

The stock seats are made to hold some super fat 300# guy in a crash. there stronger then people think just because there stock dosn't mean there not safe. Racing seats lighter but not stock replacement seat.
The kirkeys are made to be properly fixed mounted. And but used with a 5 or 6 point harness properly mounted. No BS running the solder straps to the floor, thats will compressed your spine really bad.
safe is safe

I'm curious, how much different is the seating position height for Kirkey pro seats with Racecraft brackets? If its any lower than stock, that would make life that much harder for me since I'm your typical "small asian guy" at 5'11" 150lbs.

ya I think I have what it changed into, a momo compaition (sp?) I didnt put the trim ring on just has the horn button. Also nice with the 6point and kirkeys for giving you more leg room. I drove a friends car with a wolfe, stock sterring wheel, and seats. And cruising with you left knee up, it get stuck over the door bar and the bigger stock wheel when you go to turn. Just a little thing about the slightly smaller wheel you don;t really notice. And with the m6 you can use your left knee to hold the smaller wheel to shift easier mid turn while on the phone too.

I painted the back of my kirkeys, look a little more stock form the back, no headlight glare. But still only 1/2 wide form the side. lol never got any pics in the car.
