Default Burkhart new parts: LW Steering Column and Updated Rear end housing

We now have a LW steering column that is a bolt in part. It weighs less than 3 pounds ad is nice and shiney The price is 189.00. We have a few in stock and ready to go.

We have also updated the rear end housing but not the price. The housing still comes with all suspension mounting points, LCA relo brackets, and a backbrace as standard. Options are tie downs, narrow LCA relo brackets, ARB, Sway Bar pads, Wheelie bar brackets, and powdercoating.

I like the steering column, it looks similar to something I am building right now...

One suggestion if I may...
Where the column bolts to the factory studs...instead of having a plate welded to the column, has anyone thought of passing the column through a 3/4" threaded rod end, so using a jam nut, the height of the column could be adjusted to suit the size of various drivers height?

^my stock column with the camaro wheel and airbag still atatched weighed 23lbs ....I would imagine this column alone saves at the very least 15lbs over stock.

We weighed a stock column at 26 pounds. this with a wheel is about 6.

Jam nut idea is interesting. We will need to look at the rules a bit.

you could just use washers or aluminum spacers to adjust height if you wanted to.

Yes you could...that's another good idea, but I just personally prefer having a jamb nut to loosen to get that exact height im looking for...

Steve....this is the piece I am referring too. I know its commonly used in dragsters, I would imagine it would be acceptable for nhra...but looking over the rules for clarity is certainly a good idea.

The column is very nice, I bought a similar piece from DMH fab a while back.

I did, shim mine with washers to get the height right where I wanted it. I also, had mine built about 3 inches longer to get the wheel closer to me, since I have the seat pretty far back, I always hated the feeling of reaching for the wheel, now I don't have that anymore

Steve, the rear end housing, can you build one that's about 5.5 inches narrower then stock, set up to take a madman tq arm, and with the lca mounts positioned so that they'll be in line with the control arms, when they're bolted to the inside of the inner mounting plate (moving them inward). Also, the lca mounts, since I'm lowering the car alot, I need them built so they have several holes, as close together as possible for IC adjustment.

backbrace only, as I am going to go with a bickel promod bar where the gas tank is.. I do need the phb mount too, moved inward as well. I'd like to keep the same aerospace brakes I have on my 12 bolt, what needs to be done there as well? New backing plates I'd guess?

Center section and axles we can talk about too, I'm thinking 4.30 lightened pro gearset, 40 spline gun drilled lightened flange and 5/8 stud, alum center section, unless sone of those sounds like a bad idea with 1200 hp.

31 inch tire going on the car, with a 15x12 dbl beadlock 5 inch backspace wheel, and I want to pull them in the fenders an inch and a half, so the top of the tire is up inside the fender.

Then it wouldn't be light weight.

Post up some pics of in car please. Interested. Will this column mount right up to your manual rack and race k-member? Such as a kit?

It will work with our steering shaft and front end kit.

We have no plans to make this work with the factory switches.

JL, give Chuck a call and he can set you up with that housing. we have done several like that.
