I got pulled over one night while out dig racing in "mexico". The cop gave me a rash of crap about my cage, 5pt harnesses and slicks. He also told me my rear tires were low and I needed to stop at a gas station soon and air them up

I wouldn't do it honestly.. unless you have one set of wheels and go to the track alot, I would just run a regular street tire, and change them out when you get to the TRACK...
Which is what I do, drive on street tires and change at the track. Is it a pain, yes, but it saves the tires. The Heat cycles alone kill them.

I have gotten pulled over only once, it was for suspicion of speeding but he grilled me about my tires which were BRAND NEW that day Nittos and all I had to say they are DOT legal and he dropped it. He tried to bait me.

I stick my ET Drags in a LARGE Yard Trash bag, the thick ones and then put them in the back. I can fit both front skinnies in the trunk, one 15 x 8 on the deck lid, and the other on one of the rear seats, also bring a "trolley" jack, and needed tools for the special lugs and washers.

They dont make a 28x10.5 ET street or QTPs you need to order the 11.5s They will fit but you might need to mod the rocker panel if they rub since its a 28" tire. A 27x11.5 will fit perfect with no mods. With that said I would just get the 275-60 MT ET radials if your going to drive it on the street a lot

Yeah Im not gonna drive those tires on the street. Like I said before im just gonna do the whole swapping rims deal. It sux but its better than constantly spending 400 bucks on new tires. Thanks for the input man. Im gonna go with the 28 x 11.5 and make the necessary adjustments haha.

Sounds like a plan. I tried that though and it was a PITA. So I just end up running my drag stuff all the time.

I drove my car to work one morning on ET drags after going to the track and got pulled over for no front plate. He mentioned the slicks but i just said i didnt get a chance to change my wheels. I really doubt you would be pulled over for the sole purpose of having slicks on a car.

If you've decided to get 2 sets of wheels and swap at the track, then a full slick with a stiff sidewall is the only way to go on a stick car. I'm running the 28x10.5's on mine. You will have to do some work to get them to fit though. As far as driving with slicks on the street, I also got tired of swapping at the track so I drove on them to and from the track. Never been pulled over for it(knock on wood!). If you've got 1/2 inch studs and use the shank style lugnuts, be careful swapping wheels all the time cuz the pro stars don't like it and the holes will start to deform. Don't ever torque them either.

I was pulled over about 3 years ago on my way to work with 28x10.5 ET Drags and the police officer went easy on me. Luckily I was close to work and already had my uniform on.

like i said earlier, the ET Streets and QTPs are rated by section width not tread width. The 28x11.5s are really a 9" tire, and could go on an 8" rim. Hoosier doesn't make a 12.50, but M/T does which is a 10.5" tire.

So youre saying that I could run a 12.50 wide tire on my car? That doesnt seem like it would fit.... Pics or it didnt happen LOL

Quick fitment stuff for you:

15x10 rim
28x10.5 MT ET Drag
28x12.5 MT ET Street
275-60-15 MT Drag Radial
325-50-15 MT Drag Radial (much wider than 275, like 13 inches wide I think)
New 295-55-15 MT Drag radial ( I believe in the middle 'tween 60 and 50).
