Default Who has been pulled over for driving on slicks?

If youve been pulled over for driving on the street with slicks,I would like to know what the officer said to you. Also, what kind of trouble could I get in for getting caught? Im gonna put some on my car and just wanna be prepared LOL.

Not me but friends have. They have in some cases had to call a tow truck or get a trailer. I did get yelled at one time but it was in the context of almost getting arrested for speeding again.

Street driving is bad for slicks, hardens them up and they pick up every single bit of debris. I've had stones worm their way thru and puncture a slick.

I never had any problems rolling on ET Streets, other than the crappy ride quality. Do you really need to be on an ET Drag type tire? ET Streets are DOT legal.

Never been stopped for that reason but it was checked after i was pulled over and they jus told me to get dot and yea i would agree with the other guys wouldnt drive on them unless you was headed to a race. Not only will it ruin ur slicks over time but it will throw rocks all over your car

I was riding shotgun in my buddy's car on ET Streets one time. The officer was all pissy until he was showed the DOT number on the sidewall.

I want a slick because I want to hook easily on a crappy track but if its gonna be that big of a deal then I will just put extra time in my suspension and get a radial.

I would just get a "cheater slick", like ET street drags... They are DOT approved (legal for street use) and hook just as good as a full slick.

I have but I know a lot of cops in my area... I was getting on it and he pulled me over initially because of my loud exhaust, he chuckled and said it looked like my rear tires were getting low on tread. I have been pulled over one other time but they didn't mention the tires.

Most of the fastest small tire cars I've seen (as in not back-halved) also run Hoosier QTPs on the street.

My buddy got towed off an army base for having slicks on.. stupid mp's... we didn't know it was army property as we were on the outskirts and didn't pass through any gates etc. We had the other wheels and tires in the car along with a jack and impact wrench and we almost changed them out after the cops got their but figured they'd get even more pissed lol..

The only thing I can find on summit is an ET Drag Slick. I did find an ET Street with just a couple of small lines in it but it was 26 x 10.5 and I need a 28 x 10.5. They do have an ET Street that has a more aggressive tread pattern and looks more like a street tire. I looked at the hoosier QTP and that tire was 100 dollars more than an ET street and I just dont have that kind of money to drop on JUST tires. Am I missin something?

the mickey thompson drag radial which i think is what your refferin to as the one that looks like a street tire is a badass tire. You should be able to hook that tire at a shitty track no prob unless ur putting a ton of power down even withour alot of suspension work. Those tires have been 6s in the quarter. I think the hoosier your referin to is a pretty new design and the price will probly drop in time.

MT3755 is a 28x10.5 bias ply. On the ET Street stuff they rate them according to section width, not tread width. I went 1.45 on my 3rd pass in this car, they'd been sitting in the sun for almost 2 years with over 2k street miles on them. I'd pick up another set but they NEED tubes in these heavy cars. I just went to a stiffwall hoosier 28x10.5 to extend the sidewall life.

I say just go with a radial. Slicks on the street just seems to be nonsense imo.

Yeah I like those MT ET Street radials. Would the 28 x 11.5 15 be too wide for my car? I have the standard length rear end. I will be running the Weld pro star 15 x 10 with the 7.5 bs

3000 miles they're done just about.

I wouldn't do it honestly.. unless you have one set of wheels and go to the track alot, I would just run a regular street tire, and change them out when you get to the TRACK...
