Default Narrowed rear, what backspacing for rims?

I'm getting a 9" rear narrowed 3" each side and I'm trying to figure out what backspacing to go with. Should I go with a 4.5" or 5.5" backspacing. I want the super deep dish but I also want the tires tucked under the car. I know the 4.5" backspacing is going to give the deeper dish look but would it be better to go with the 5.5" to keep the tires farther away from the fender? If anyone has pictures of 4.5/5.5" backspacing on a 3" narrowed rear, please post up pictures. What are your thoughts guys? Thanks for the help.

PM JL on this, he is a great source when it comes to this. I do a plan to cut my 12 bolt 2" per side at some point and we explored some options.

You want 4.5" backspace with a 10 inch rim. That's what I run on my car with a 325/50 radial for the street and 28x12.50 et street for the track.

With a narrowed rearend (3" each side) and a 10 rim, a 4.5"bs will put the rim centered in the stock location, a 5.5"bs will tuck it in a whole inch.

I am getting a 9 in narrowed 3 in per side. Plan on going with 5in BS. That will pull the wheel in a little more than stock. My previous 12 bolt stock width I ran a 10in rim with 8 in of BS, and I had no clearance problems with a 28X10.5 slick. I would rather go with a little more BS and runs a small spacer to get the wheel exactly where you want, than go with less BS and have the tire hang out.

Thanks to everyone that replied. The pictures were a great help. I decided to go with the 5.5" BS. Jmm98Ls1... your car looks good, but my preference is to tuck the tires a little more to keep the tire away from the fender. My true preference would be the 5" backspacing but they do not offer the 5" BS option with Prostars.

I will post up pictures of the car once I get the rear installed and the tires on the car to help with anyone else wondering the same questions.

Again, thanks to all that replied.

Can you not just have the rear narrowed a half inch more on each side? That way you can run the 4.5 backspace and still tuck it in a little more.

I've got 3" off each side. Running a 5.5 bs tire is tight close to the lca. Tire is a 315. Tucks in nice. Off done over, Id do 3.5 off each side, and run a 6" bs rim, as there are many more selections of rims in the 6" bs on a 15x 10.
