Default Torque Converters??

Looking to buy a TC for my build and was going to buy a Neil Chance unit, but have been wondering if buying the NC is really worth the extra money??

What do you guys think and is there any less expensive options that you have had great luck with. This is for a TH350 and a weekend Street/strip car.
Thanks
Mike

another vote for FTI. I love mine, got it when it was on sale for $700 something. Plus, you can get a free restall when you wanna go bigger.

It will depend on what you need my 8" was 800 but when you have a 5000na converter that will only flash to 5500 on a sub 200 shot..... . I don't remember your exact set up since I'm on my phone but from what I've seen Greg is the man to get ahold of for 3spd set up Fbodies. Nothing against any other companies....but from what I've seen recommended for other people. May have been leaving some on the table

FTI, or call Lenny at Ultimate Converter Concepts.

I would use either of them and feel pretty good about it.

I am very happy with my Neil chance. Marty hit it right on the first try. Not an easy task on a turbo car.

I'd go with PTC. I've used many different converters from the top brands to the cheap ones PTC has been the best and their customer service is amazing.

Ok Just got off the phone with Madman and he says PTC is the way to go with a nitrous car. Says if I was FI to go with the NC converter. SO Im taking Brians advice. Also ordered my trans cooler, flex plate and LT1 TH350 dip stick while I was on the phone. All thats left to order is the TC. Ill get that done tomorrow.

I will share a little tq converter info with ya, that alot of people aren't aware of. Unless you are talking about a converter with billet covers that are being machined form billet stock by the company selling the converter (common with bolt together converters, like a chance bolt together for example) 95% of the converter parts, all come from about a 1/2 dozen different places.

One guy makes one part, another guy another part, and they all buy and sell to and from each other, and you are getting a different version of the same parts, put together by someone that has experience making a specific design work.

If you talk to converter guys, ask them where they get the stator's from, who's case they are using, and whatnot.. you will find that, if they want to share the info with you, that is the case.

It's kind of funny.. any converter guy can build pretty much any converter, becuase they're all using the same stuff.

PTC does make a good piece, I don't use them personally, but again, it's a comfort thing. I trust Lenny and Greg, they have both delievered good stuff for cars I've worked on and my own. I use them, becuase of that. It's by no means me saying that anyone else out there can't do a good job.

I would stay away from yank and vigelante stuff.... I have never had a car with either of those run right.

Ridings converter here. He machines his own covers, he hit my last converter spot on the first time. I would recommend him.

Vig and Yank make great 4l60e converters but Im using a th350 and cant find any thing reguarding their Th350 stuff. MADMAN SAYS go PTC and holds the record for fastest 275DR 60ft and has the fastest Torque arm car so im going with his advise.

When it comes to advise, Madman's is second to none. What he says, is gold when it comes to parts, setups, etc.
