My custom intake/ram air box

My custom intake/ram air box Just wanted to get some feedback on my intake/ram air box I put together. My car has been torn apart for a long time so I started working on this a few days ago to kill some time. I've seen the sux2bu ram air plate that sits under the lower stock airbox. So going from that design I'm going to make a plate like his and then run the two ducts from that plate to my air box.
I was contemplating running a single 4" tube directly from my air box to the throttle body but wasn't sure what to do for a filter as my car sees a lot of street usage. The way the box is now the tubes coming out the sides are 4" and with them going to the sux2bu style plate I won't have to worry about the filter issue.
Box is made of aluminum I think I may try making another one out a slighty thinner aluminum for weight reason. All this was cut with a dremel and finished with a sander so something thinner might be easier to work with. Still needs a couple little brackets to secure it in place but I will figure that out when I put the bumper on the car.

ya I was gona say, sence your going form the square hole anyway. if you could just make the box right off the lower airbox. Like a mini big gulp (search that if you don't know)
But the ribbed ducts will help keep the filter form getting wet, even the SUX2BU style its not a strait shot. So Rain and HWY spray doesn't get the to filter.

Looks good! I'm looking in to something like this to feed the LQ4 in my LT1 bodied firebird until I get all the parts for the 98-up front end swap.
Any pics of what the upper part looks like yet? Curious how it's going to connect to the throttle body.

Not to be a hater but I don't think its going to work as well as a normal sux2bu style. The more turns and radius the air has to travel along the less velocity and pressure. You have it slamming right into the middle and then it has to some how choose which side to flow through, either the left or right and then through more tubes and finally up to the airbox, is that the plan?

I wonder if you could run that 4 inch tube down into a box attached like the one you built, and put the biggest filter in there that you can. That way the air is getting the filter and it will see the pressure... might save some weight too from the entire setup.
Nice idea though. Not sure about the side exit's for the air, if you could do it out the back/top and get the air up to the lid/filter if you keep the stock setup that may work better, as said less bends, straiter flow, etc.

looks awesome!
I'm with everyone else though. Kind of a turbulent/low pressure looking setup as is, with just the two side pipes. Either a V in the center to help direct the air
or maybe split the main opening of the square into two boxes, with a reducing cone into the tubes.
