to be honest JL, im just playing devils advocate. is not running a cast pan gonna tear up your bottom end? obviously not. at the end of the day, it does add structure.

I think that sums it up nicely. As I stated earlier, running a sheet metal pan certainly won't destroy your engine. No one here is arguing that. It is however less than optimal for the aluminum small blocks. If you have the option of using a cast-aluminum pan with proper baffling, it's going to be a better choice.

So got my baffle saturday and installed it. Its a nice part BUT if you have a engine with a 4in crank like I do you have to trim the hell out of it to get the oil pan to fit. The baffle will hit the pick up tube. I was not happy about it at all for something that cost 200 bucks it should fit with no issues. in the instructions tell you to trim if you have a larger than stock crank so they know of this issue. so why not make it fit a 4in crank as well? But besides this issue it looks like it should help allot

Stock baffle

Improved racing baffle I should of took some pics pic the trim ing i.had to do

how close it it the the back of the pan? you put any oil in it, and see how a back tilt, retains the oil the climb?

Sorry to hear that you had to do a lot of trimming. Can you describe where it was interfering and where you had to trim it? Was it right near the area we currently already have a cutout (lower left hand corner of the opening for the pickup in the last photo)? That cutout seemed to be enough to clear strokers for most of our customers, but it looks like we need to make it a bit bigger.

Don't get me wrong mike it looks great and fits in the pan awesome. It look like it was more of the bracket than the tube. But its so hard to see when your trying too fit the pan. Regardless im sure this baffle is going to help for sure

So Improved are you planning on possibly having an option added to clearance it some more for a 4.000 crank? I am interested in purchasing one but would like to see if your going to try to remedy the issue first.

Oh I understand, no offense taken. However we are always trying to improve our products and I love getting feedback from customers. If there's something we can do to make it a better product, we'd like to do it.

We've already added clearance everywhere we thought it would interfere, so it shouldn't have required much trimming. But we will take another look and try to add a little more clearance on the next batch we make.

very cool michael
I love to have a company just tell you " its fine...we never had that happen" ... and doesn't care. When something is up, and have their square peg to fit in a round hole to deal with. And sound like you know, you don't hear about most of the little issues with something custom made like this. Most of the people will just mods it to get it to fit. Not tell you, but you hear somthing about it on line months after, thats just the way it works now.
But I know I like to hear about all little thing I was not aware of to make it better.

300ft. How long is that? 3-4 secs? I think you need to go dry to "fix" that if you serious?
