Default Best Rear drag brake

Needing to purchase some rear drag brakes that will fit inside my new champion wheels with a 13.125 ID which really narrows down my options but I found some from Wilwood that will work but it retains the parking brake which I dont need or want and then theres the Aerospace brakes but they say they will only fit into a 13.150 ID wheel, this is the direction I would like to go and possibly just put the caliper in a lathe and cut it down some on the ends but not sure if this will work. Strange said they didnt have one that would work with my wheel. You guys had any problems with street driving with drag brakes?

I have strange rear drag brakes and street drive it just fine. I have billet specities and no issue with fitment. I know Stangkilr on here has champion wheels with strange drag brakes.

I knew he had Strange but he has a different backspace than I do so it helps with there wheels. The barrel on the wheels dont step out until right at the end of the wheel, anything over 4.5 backspace they say you will have issues with brake fitment.

They tell you from the get go when they call you back to place your order anything over 4.5 backspace to make sure your brakes will fit cause once there built there yours. There is othere guys on here that run them so I knew there was a way, I thought both had stock backspace but only one does and he's trying to find out from his chassis guy which brakes they used, think he said wilwood. I will make something work but I would rather just buy something that will bolt up and work compared to having to fab some stuff up.

If strange and aerospace don't make what you need, and you don't want to go with the wilwood that will work... the next bet after that would maybe try to get ahold of mark williams, they may have something that will work.

Sorry to hijack thread.

I was under the impression driving Drag brakes on the street would be bad since they would heat up too quickly. Are you running just drag brakes in the rear or front as well?

Just in the rear. I dont do alot of stop and go and had them for a year and they have held up just fine. I am just aware of them and make sure and give myself plenty of stopping distance between cars and been doing fine.

I recently just got my champion wheels in as well, and stangkiller on here runs the strange brakes in the rear. He said that he has been running them for 2 years and has not had any problem or had to replace anything. I believe those will be the brakes that I will be going with.

I ran those willwoods with the parking brake for a few years and there great brakes. Tons of rim room. If you want I htink you can order then with the 2 parts rotor, and get a alum hat. And not run the Ebrake stuff. So its just a dynalight caliper on there thin venter rotor for max weight.
I run the strange front and rear now on the street, My car is light. But it stops fine, even better, then they get warm the get really grippy. And with power still there touchy. Ive heard some guys say they went to manual and liked it better, it felt more like stock brakes.
