Default 26" DR and gearing???????

Looks like I might be racing in an event that requires a 26" Drag radial. My question is what would be the best rear gearing for a 3500lb car, th350 trans, approx 750rwhp on a 26" Drag radial???? Thanks this race has a BIG payout and I want to win!!!!!!!!!!!!

what rpm are you shifting at? I'd say 3.73 if you have enough gear for your estimated traps.

Should be shifting at 7-7100 with the new engine going in.

3.73 would put you topping out around 140 depending on converter. Have fun at the jr

You need to find your convertor slip percentage before you can calculate trap rpm. There is a calculator on tci.com that works pretty good.

My loose converter was good for MAYBE 130mph with a 26" tire with 3.73's at 7k. Just some food for thought.

Alright I need some more help here. How do I figure this out for a new combo? I know approx HP, Weight, tire height and RPM as mentioned just not which gear to go with. Im thinking 3.55 or 3.73 but how can I do this without testing both? New to figuring out TC slip and all that. Always raced with a T56 in the past.

Can't figure converter slip out until you run the car

3.55 or 3.73 is around a 200 rpm difference so....

if you talk tto who made your converter they should be able to give you a close estimate of what your slip will be

Ya my rev limiter is set at 7300, I know the MSD carb box will go to 7500 I think before the crank signal screws up. Definitely 500 extra hp, there will be cars making 200 crank hp more than me easily and then hitting them with 300 shots I'm sure. I don't have a beast of a car like you, mine is a nice cruiser that happens to win car shows here or there. Nothing crazy on this thing.

I saw that race. Looks like fun. I thought about entering, but that's too far to travel for me to bring a knife to a gun fight. Good Luck!
