Weighed my 2000 Trans Am after some redux
Well after some weight redux and with a little less than 1/4 tank of gas my car weighed in at 3300lbs w/o me in it . Needless to say I am pretty happy, I was expecting her to weigh in at 3400+. I guess I was just being pesimistic.
I have removed
-Rear seat (top and lower portion)
-CAT-back
-Spare Tire and Jack
-Upper panhard rod
-Exhast heat shielding
-Tunnel brace
-little under 1/4 tank
-compartment flap
-floor mats
-rear seatbelts
I still have 70lbs sitting on the table for strip duty (front swaybar, front Bump. Supp., pass. seat, tire well shielding), 100lbs if I relocate the battery to the back to compensate for the rear bumper support. Throttle response has improved and city gas mileage has improved a little bit.
Does this sound about right to you guys?
Its a 2000 T/A with usual options PS, PW, PL, "leather", T-Tops.
BTW this weight reduction **** is addicting!!! I am starting to wonder if I even need a passenger seat.

Yeah at this point anymore weight redux is pretty much for the strip and I am going to have to add weight (cage, SFC's, 12-bolt,LCAB's etc) to help put down the power I am after. .
Now I just gotta do the driver weightloss mod done , wish it was as easy as removing weight from a car

After removing the weight from the back I was afraid I would have problems with traction.
Well with 245 nittos I was able to launch at 5500 and the car hooked. Tires were set at 18@psi.
Came back around to try and dump off the stock rev limiter and spun them pretty bad. Wanted to try 16psi but unfortunately that was the last run of the day. This was at the above weight.
Didn't have a chance to prep the car for strip trim i.e. no passenger seat, swaybar, bumper support etc. Good for another 100lbs give or take.

SSCam68, are you an auto or T-56?
Does anyone know the weight difference between the A-4 and T-56? I'm just guessing but I would bet the T-56 is a little heavier. I think it weighs around 90lbs full.

Its a T-56. I believe, don't hold me to it, the T-56 weighs in at 150#'s. I know I read it in an article in a mag when they were comparing the weight between a T-5 and a T-56.
Roger, thanks for the info!
