Default preloading oem rear sway bar

1991 Camaro lq4

Been contemplating shortening the spacer between the sway bar bushings on driversside to help straighten up the launch.

I have own z28 rear sway bar with poly link bushings and Umi location spacer jobies for my 9" rear.

I know a anti roll bar would be ideal. But have any of you experimented with doing this.

How much should I shorten the spacer on the drivers side sway bar link as a starting point?

Thanks

You may be able to preload it but I would think it would flex under load and foil your idea. Also, the urethane is going to move along with any other parts not designed to be used as an ARB. You can't make a stock sway bar into an ARB.

I did it, and didnt notice a difference. Don't even waste your time. Get a proper anti roll bar and you will be much happier with the results.

Good deal! Now you have to scale the car to see how much adjustment is going to be needed.

I'd put a tack on rearend/Spohn pads to make sure they don't shift under power. I'd also put a couple of tacks on the ones that you made to make sure they don't shift. I know they are bolted but once you start throwing power at it everything will try to move. What kind of power are you making? Good luck and keep us updated on the results.

I like your style!
I was just looking at my stock front sway bar and wondered if I could make it work on the rearend as well.
Glad there are other people out there that are willing to try something different instead of just pick up the phone and burn up the credit card.
