No, dry hops are not good. They loose heat when you do this and it is just best to do a good burnout and pull to the line .

dry hops are like a kick in the nuts just to find out if you have nuts left. dont do it.

After the burnout, your next launch is your best launch. No dry hops.

I thought he was talking about the Z28 with the stall not the SS M6. I found that getting the drag radials wet then pulling up to where the pavement is just damp like the 2-3 last feet of tire travel before the wet tire stops leaving wet prints; then doing the burnout there(at my local track this sweet spot is about 4-5 feet in front of the water box or puddles). When I peak the burnout I let off the brake and ride out the tire spin to about 5 ft before the lights; then I stage as quickly as possible to avoid my tires cooling. I also let the other driver start his burnout first because if I start first then I will probably finish before him and be staged before him; while I am waiting for him to stage my tires are QUICKLY losing their temperature. Get yourself a linelock too, even if the car is an automatic. I have heard different definitions of "dry hop". The first version is simply doing a dry burnout (waterless). The other is after a driver does the burnout they come to a complete stop and then give it gas to "leap" the car if you will; causing the tires to hook to lift the front-end. Most drivers will do this several times prior to staging the car. I was always under the impression of the 2nd definition as being the correct one for "dry-hop".
