Default It has begun...

I started taking out the interior today. I got the seats out and some interior pieces. I also snapped a current pic of the engine bay.

I'm going to vacuum out the carpet prior to pulling it out. I have to take the center console out and the dash. I'm going to have to get a new dash cover since that has shattered to pieces. I'm pretty sure I'll just end up spraying the pieces to make them ebony instead of the 4 different grays. My cage should be here soon.

The intentions are to install the 10pt cage, kirkeys, lightweight carpet, and paint the interior panels black.

I really hated the lightweight carpet. For the weight I would just pull the backing off of the stock carpet. You have more than enough turbo to where 10lbs isn't going to matter.

What cage did you go with?

I ordered the s&w cage. I read that the stock carpet was 40lbs and the lightweight was 10lbs. Another thing is that im considering painting the interior black. So id get new carpet id think as well.

I got a little bit done this morning. Taking the dash out was the hardest part so far. I went and bought the duplicolor vinyl and fabric paint. I also vacuumed a little bit haha!

In for updates!
I'm on the fence about a Midwest chassis 10pt, or an s&w 10pt at the moment..

Be sure to scuff the pieces you plan to paint really well and apply an adhesion promoter to all the interior pieces that you plan to paint. I believe I used duplicolor adhesion promoter and it work pretty well. You won't want to go back and do it over if it starts to peel off.

I paid 323 shipped for the 10pt in mild steel. The chromoly was 649 plus shipping and taxes. No thanks. I also never said I was worried about the carpet. I'm changing the color of the interior so the gray carpet has to change. I'm going to try and dye it and see how that turns out.

I bought the adhesion promoter. I'm going to clean the pieces with soap and water and then alcohol.

The lightweight carpet is definately worth the money for
Weight savings. I think there's a pic of the carpet in my
Build thread. https://ls1tech.com/forums/drag-raci...-thread-6.html

Engine bay looks real good. Interior should be nice once you are done. I like the duplicolor vinyl and fabric alot. My dash looks real good painted with it.

So the carpet costs $300? Sometimes people don't hemorrhage money when they want something.

I dyed mine black and it turned out really well. It only cost me about $25, but... If you do be prepared to make a humongous mess, wear gloves, and shoes / socks that you don't mind destroying.

I got nothing.
It just sounded like he was on a quest for weight reductions with earlier posts. Normally someone with a twin turbo engine doesn't mind spending a couple extra bux for something unless they didn't know what they were getting into in the first place
