Cool What drag brakes should I order?

Sorry if this post seems repetitive. I searched in the handling and braking forum and also in here. I have gathered some useful info regarding the Strange kit and the Aerospace kit but I haven't really seen a good estimate of weight savings on each kit compared to stock. I would also like to find out which of the two Aerospace kits I should get if I go that route either the street or race version. I would assume the race version since my car is not a street car but looking at their site it looks like car weight and other factors come into play which almost have me wanting to order the street kit. What about ease of installation on each kit?

My car should be hopefully around 2800-2900lbs when completed and I am hoping to trap in the 145-150mph range. I would like to get the lightest kit possible but I don't want to have to little of stopping power and to thin of rotor that will warp easily.

I would appreciate anyones help and effort in helping me out. Thanks folks.

Just my .02--but I'd go for the Strange brakes. I have the rears on my WS6. With a 150mph car in the 1/4-I'd doubt you'd be doing enough street driving to hurt them. The Aerospace are ok, but for the extra 100 bucks the strange is the way to go in the rear. Neither allows the use of the e-brake. The fronts are alot more expensive if you go with the strange kit-but it should be about 15-18 lbs lighter than the Aerospace-the strange kit eliminates the factory steel abs hub and replaces it with an aluminum piece. The aerospace will allow you to retain the factory abs-probably not something your worried about. Rears prob. will save you 30-35 lbs including the deletion of the e-brake, the fronts would save 50-55 lbs (strange). The front aerospace should shave about 40lbs off. My rear came assembled with the strange aluminum backing plates and brakes. Billingsley racing is who I get all of my stuff from. Jay is a great guy and is very knowledgable. Hope this helps.

Thumbs up

I have the Strange full race brakes. They saved 44 lbs front and 20 rear. They work well at 130+. I made my final decision between the 2 manufacturers mentioned when I talked to Jay at Billingsley Racing. Give him a call if you need info as he will make sure you get the correct components for your set up.

I did not install these myself so I have no more info.

Good luck

Tom

I was in the same boat trying to decide between Aerospace and Strange and after talking to Jay Billingsly it ended up being a no brainer on the strange.

I have the strange brakes all the way around with the manual master cylinder and have no complaints. Give Jay at Billingsley a call, he'll fix you right up.

Another Vote for strange. Mine have given NO trouble and I can attest that they stop just fine from from 137 MPH. Jay Billingsley is the guy to buy them from.

Anyone running either of these setups on the street? My car isn't a daily driver but sees a fair amount of street time.

They are drag brakes, not street brakes. They're not designed for the stress and heat from street driving.

Aerospace makes a street kit that will save some pounds over the stock setup

If I was going for drag only, I would have gone Strange. I needed brakes for 1/2 street and 1/2 drag so I went with the Aerospace Pro Street kit.
