Default 2nd gear burnout bogs down motor.

My car makes 430rwhp/390rwtq i have 4.11 gears and a ls7 clutch.

On street tires I can usually do a second gear burnout no problem.

I put on 275 nitto drag radials @ 18psi last week and went to the track. I rolled through the wet box and proceeded to do my burnout in second gear, I reved the engine up to about 3500 dropped the clutch and mashed the gas pedal. The tires started to spin the motor bogged down and i almost stalled out. My question is does my car not make enough power to do a burnout in second gear with drag radials or does something seem off?

My old combo was making around that and I always did 2nd gear burnouts. 275 60 drag radials but 4.30 gear. I have a line lock and usually start in 1st and shift to 2nd though.... good video on youtube( WS6store.com 5-12-12 open house camaro. )As you can see only problem is staying off the rev limiter in 2nd .

You guys run fast with a stick car? Once you knock the tires loose you can ease back on the throttle. Even a stock engine would be OK at 5500. If you don't have a line lock, don't roll THROUGH the water, start IN the water. It will move forward out of the water.

Mine is a m6 car and first time with slicks it bogged hard in 2nd. Then put my big boy pants on and rev to 5k+ and drop the clutch and get them smoking and ride it out. On the line the 2 step set at 6k. So moral of the story rev it and let her fly.

To explain it easily I have my launch rpm set at whatever rpm I want it.mine is 6k. So at the line I am at WOT and can leave hard at my desired rpm.

Sounds like he doesn't know what a 2 step is.

It is two rev limiters. One is your normal rev limiter. The second rev limiter is activated when the clutch pedal s down (or line lock on), or the trans brake on, or a button on the foot brake pedal depressed in a foot brake automatic car. Used for consistent launches.

does your car still have the 7.5" 10 bolt ? if it does you may want to upgrade it before doing 6500 clutch drops , whats good advice for a 9" or S60 not so much for a 7.5 lol

No I have a 9 inch. Just had to upgrade my driveshaft last week because I snapped in half trying to launch at the line.

You need to get a line lock. If you are trying to do a burnout by using the brakes to hold it, you are using the rear brakes as well, which doesn't help with the bogging issue. I only rev to about 3k before dropping the clutch and have no problem with bogging on et drags. About 430rwhp and 4.11 gears

Use a line loc and drop at 5000+rpm. You want the tires spinning fast enough so they can't grip till you let off.
